senior accountant's job involves managing accounting operations, including financial reporting, general ledger management, and account reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP. Key responsibilities include preparing and analyzing financial statements, supporting audits and taxes, assisting with budgeting and forecasting, and developing and maintaining internal controls. They often supervise junior staff, provide technical guidance, and work with management to optimize financial processes.

Key Responsibilities :

Financial Reporting & Analysis : Prepare, review, and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Generate reports summarizing financial status and trends for management.

General Ledger & Reconciliations : Manage the general ledger, reconcile bank accounts, and resolve discrepancies. Ensure the accuracy of account balances and journal entries.

Internal Controls & Compliance : Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls to ensure accuracy and prevent fraud. Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other regulatory requirements.

Audit & Tax Support : Coordinate and assist with both internal and external audits. Support the preparation of tax returns and ensure compliance with tax laws.

Budgeting & Forecasting : Assist in the development and preparation of annual budgets. Conduct variance analysis and provide insights into budget performance.

Process Improvement : Identify and implement ways to improve accounting systems, processes, and efficiency. Document new policies and procedures.

Team Leadership & Mentoring : Supervise, plan, and assign tasks to accounting assistants and bookkeepers. Mentor and train junior accounting staff.

Required Skills & Qualifications :

Proven experience as a senior accountant, accounting supervisor, or similar role.

Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures and GAAP.

Proficiency with accounting software packages and advanced MS Excel skills.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.

Excellent communication skills to interact with management and auditors

Requirements

Work experience as an Accountant. Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) Hands-on experience with accounting software like FreshBooks and QuickBooks. Advanced MS Excel skills including Vlookups and pivot tables.
