We are seeking an Automation Manager to lead automation initiatives within a manufacturing plant. This role is crucial for optimizing assembly lines, implementing low-cost automation concepts, and developing Special Purpose Machines (SPMs) to enhance productivity, reduce costs, and support new product development.
Role & Responsibilities
- Assembly Line Management : Set up assembly lines, conduct tact time studies , and perform cycle time optimization . Design, manufacture, and install jigs and fixtures.
- Process Optimization : Implement line balancing , assembly flow optimization, and cell manufacturing . Conduct Process Ratio (VA & NVA Study).
- Plant Engineering : Prepare plant layouts and implement low-cost automation concepts.
- SPM Development : Derive concepts for SPM design based on product application and final testing requirements. Conduct vendor evaluations and manage outsourcing.
- SPM Capability Building : Establish full SPM build capability within two years, covering design, component sourcing, PLC programming , assembly, and trials for various applications (e.g., continuity testing, vision inspection, leak testing, robotic gluing, laser marking, etc.).
- NPD Leadership : Act as a core contributing member in the new product development (NPD) process for both connector and engineering products.
- Maintenance : Practice Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) for all SPMs, robots, and grippers.
- Team Development : Train, develop, and retain talent with the required skill sets.
Skills Required
Experience in assembly line setup and optimization .Strong knowledge of line balancing, cell manufacturing, and process studies .Proficiency in plant layout preparation and low-cost automation .Expertise in SPM design and development , including a wide range of testing and assembly applications.Competency in PLC programming .Proven ability to contribute to the NPD-APQP process .Experience in practicing Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) .Excellent skills in team development and talent management.Skills Required
