  • Location : Hyderabad, India (Flexible / Client Location - Relocation Supported)

About The Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Manager, Data Engineering who will also serve as a Lead Data Architect for our consulting engagements. This pivotal role demands a professional with over 8 years of overall experience, including a minimum of 5 years in leading and managing a client portfolio specifically within the Data Engineering domain.

The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of business operations, common challenges faced across various business functions, and the underlying business technology. You will be instrumental in leveraging both traditional and modern data engineering technologies to solve complex business problems, guiding clients through their entire data journey. This role requires comprehensive knowledge of emerging technologies for data management, encompassing data governance, data quality, security, data integration, processing, and provisioning.

You will be a strong team leader, comfortable taking on leadership roles in client projects, presales / consulting, solutioning, business development conversations, and end-to-end execution of enterprise-level data engineering projects. Exceptional problem-solving abilities, a strong business understanding, and a confident client presence are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Client Engagement & Relationship Management :
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients on data engineering projects, meticulously understanding their business needs, challenges, and strategic goals.
  • Develop and maintain robust client relationships, ensuring high levels of client satisfaction and fostering opportunities for repeat business.
  • Expertly translate complex client requirements into clear, actionable technical solutions and detailed project plans.
  • Project Management & Delivery (Project Delivery & Budgeting) :
  • Oversee the end-to-end delivery of multiple, complex data engineering projects simultaneously, ensuring they are delivered on time, within defined scope, and strictly within budget.
  • Proactively manage project resources, timelines, and risks, ensuring smooth project execution and successful delivery.
  • Collaborate seamlessly with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, business analysts, and IT professionals, to deliver comprehensive and integrated data solutions.
  • Technical Leadership & Innovation (Lead Data Architect) :
  • Lead the design, development, and deployment of scalable, robust data architectures, pipelines, and processes meticulously tailored to client needs.
  • Stay abreast of the latest industry trends, cutting-edge technologies, and best practices in data engineering, actively implementing them in client projects to drive innovation and sustain competitive advantage.
  • Provide comprehensive technical oversight and expert guidance to the data engineering team, ensuring the adoption of industry best practices and the delivery of high-quality output.
  • Team Leadership & Development (Team Leader) :
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a high-performing team of 8 to 12 data engineers, fostering a collaborative, supportive, and high-performance culture.
  • Provide professional development opportunities, targeted coaching, and career growth support to team members, enabling their continuous improvement.
  • Ensure the team is fully equipped with the necessary skills, tools, and resources to deliver high-quality consulting services.
  • Data Governance & Quality Assurance :
  • Implement and oversee robust data governance frameworks, ensuring data integrity, security, and compliance across all client projects.
  • Establish and enforce stringent data quality standards, guaranteeing the reliability, accuracy, and trustworthiness of data used in client solutions.
  • Business Development & Consulting (Presales & Business Consulting) :
  • Actively support business development efforts by contributing to compelling proposals, confidently presenting solutions to prospective clients, and identifying new opportunities for expanding client engagements.
  • Provide thought leadership in data engineering, contributing to white papers, webinars, and industry conferences to significantly enhance the company's reputation and market presence.

    • Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Academic Qualification : Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) or Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in a relevant field.
  • Overall Professional Experience : 8 to 12 years of data engineering experience.
  • Managerial & Consulting Experience : A minimum of 3 years in a managerial role within a consulting or professional services environment, specifically leading data engineering initiatives.
  • Client Portfolio Management : Proven experience of at least 5 years in leading and managing a client portfolio in the Data Engineering space.
  • Project Leadership : Minimum 5 years of experience in Project Leadership and delivery, including managing project timelines, scope, and budget for complex data engineering projects.
  • Team Leadership : Proven experience in leading and managing a team of at least 8-10 professionals.
  • Presales & Business Development : Minimum 5 years of experience in Presales / Consultation and Business Development in the Data Engineering space.
  • Data Architecture : Strong experience in data architecture, capable of leading the design and implementation of scalable data solutions.
  • Core Technical Understanding : Good understanding of traditional and modern data engineering technologies / tools, including data governance, data quality, security, data integration, processing, and provisioning.
  • Problem-Solving : Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex and ambiguous situations.
  • Project Management Methodologies : Exceptional project management skills, with proven experience in Agile methodologies.
  • Client-Service Mindset : A strong client-service mindset and a desire to take on tough and challenging projects.
  • Communication : Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective client engagement and team leadership.
  • Collaboration : Ability to work effectively across functions and levels, comfortable collaborating with teammates in a virtual environment.

    • Important Notes For Candidates

  • Notice Period : We are looking for early joiners. Candidates with an immediate notice period or currently serving a notice period are highly preferred. Maximum notice period considered is 30 days.
  • Work Model : This is a 5 days' work from office role with no hybrid or remote options available.
  • Relocation : We are ready to consider relocation for suitable candidates.
