Position : COBOL Developer

Location : Remote

Experience : 3+ years (Minimum 2 years relevant COBOL experience)

Employment Type : Full-time or Freelance

Job Description :

We are seeking an experienced COBOL Developer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of COBOL programming concepts, best practices, and debugging skills, along with the ability to work in a collaborative, Agile environment.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Develop, enhance, and maintain applications using COBOL.
  • Ensure adherence to code quality, formatting, and software development best practices.
  • Write and execute test cases within COBOLs testing ecosystem.
  • Apply architectural patterns and refactor code for improved maintainability.
  • Debug and troubleshoot issues, including memory and concurrency problems.
  • Work collaboratively in Agile teams, participating in planning, reviews, and retrospectives.

Required Skills & Experience

  • COBOL Expertise : Minimum 2 years of hands-on COBOL programming experience.
  • Total Experience : At least 3 years in software development.
  • Strong understanding of multi-threading and asynchronous programming in COBOL.
  • Proficient in debugging, especially for memory and concurrency-related issues.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

    • Preferred Skills :

  • Experience with COBOL frameworks and libraries.
  • Knowledge of version control systems like Git.
  • Familiarity with Agile / Scrum methodologies.
  • Strong experience with COBOL programming language concepts.
  • Knowledge of code quality, formatting, and best practices in software development.
  • Familiarity with COBOLs testing ecosystem.

  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
