We are seeking an experienced
DB2 LUW (Linux, UNIX ) Database Administrator (DBA)to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in managing and supporting DB2 databases across Linux, UNIX, and Windows environments. As a DB2 DBA, you will be responsible for the administration, performance tuning, backup, recovery, and security of DB2 databases, ensuring optimal performance, availability, and reliability. You will collaborate with development teams, system administrators, and other IT stakeholders to support critical business applications and ensure smooth database operations.DB2 LUW Database Administration :Install, configure, and maintainDB2 LUW(Linux, UNIX ) databases, ensuring high availability and performance.Create and manage database instances, tablespaces, and other database objects.Perform routine database maintenance tasks such as reorgs, runstats, and database health checks.Monitor database performance and tune DB2 for optimal efficiency.Analyze and optimizeSQL queriesfor performance improvement, leveraging DB2 performance tools likedb2pddb2exfmt, anddb2topPerform index optimization, query plan analysis, and fine-tuning of DB2 configuration parameters.Develop and implement robust backup strategies, ensuring regular and consistent backups of DB2 databases.Test and document backup and restore procedures to ensure quick recovery in case of system failure or data corruption.Ensure database consistency, integrity, and availability during recovery operations.Database Security and Compliance :Enforce security policies for DB2 databases, including user access control, authentication, and encryption.Configure and manage user roles, privileges, and permissions to ensure database security and compliance with company and industry standards.Implement database auditing for security and regulatory compliance.Database Migration and Upgrades :Plan, execute, and test database upgrades, patching, and migrations with minimal disruption to business operations.Ensure that DB2 LUW instances are upgraded to the latest versions and maintained with security patches.Capacity Planning and Resource Management :Monitor and forecast database growth, advising on hardware and storage requirements.Ensure optimal resource allocation for CPU, memory, and disk usage to support business-critical applications.Recommend and implement solutions to scale DB2 environments based on performance needs.Automation and Scripting :Develop and maintain automation scripts (e.g., shell scripts, SQL scripts) for routine administrative tasks such as backups, health checks, and database maintenance.Use DB2 automation tools (e.g.,db2lookdb2move) to simplify common database administration tasks.Database Troubleshooting and Incident Resolution :Troubleshoot database-related issues, including performance degradation, connectivity problems, and errors related to DB2 services or queries.Respond to database incidents or outages, identify the root cause, and work to restore service quickly.
