Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Oracle RDB Administrator with strong expertise in administering, managing, and maintaining Oracle RDB on the OpenVMS platform . The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with backup, recovery, replication, cluster environment management, and SQL administration within RDB. This role requires deep technical expertise to ensure high availability, data integrity, and efficient database operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform end-to-end Oracle RDB Administration on the OpenVMS platform.
  • Manage RDB & AIJ backup procedures , ensuring robust backup and recovery strategies.
  • Execute and test scenarios for database restoration with hands-on troubleshooting.
  • Administer RDB in a Cluster Environment (Active / Passive setup) with safe node switching.
  • Manage RDB Replication processes – including start, stop, and monitoring procedures.
  • Ensure graceful shutdown and restart of RDB databases.
  • Handle SQL administration within RDB , including transaction management and performance tuning.
  • Oversee committing and monitoring transactions to maintain data consistency.
  • Provide technical documentation and knowledge transfer to relevant teams.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure database reliability, security, and efficiency.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong hands-on experience in Oracle RDB Administration on OpenVMS.
  • Expertise in RDB database installation, configuration, and performance tuning .
  • In-depth knowledge of backup, recovery, and restoration procedures .
  • Experience with cluster environments (active / passive setup) and node switching.
  • Knowledge of RDB replication – setup, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in SQL Administration within RDB .
  • Familiarity with transaction management and database security best practices .
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.

    • Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience working with Digital / Oracle RDB environments .
  • Exposure to multinational or enterprise-scale environments .
  • Knowledge of OpenVMS operations and system-level administration.
  • Certifications in Oracle Database Administration or related areas would be a plus.
