Purpose of Role
The production of electrical building services designs predominantly for Railway Stations and other Railway Buildings, working individually or as part of a team. Prepare, coordinate, and monitor a project, from the initial conception to the schedule and final completion. Supervise and mentor Assistant Enginners / Engineers in day to day activities.
Responsibilities
Supervise and verify the work performed by the designers / modeller to meet the requirements of the project.
Operation of Microsoft Office package, including Outlook, Word, Excel and powerpoint.
Guide Assistant Engineers / Engineers in day to day work for the development of electrical designs.
Mandatory Skills
Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
Qualifications meeting the requirements for Chartership with a UK Engineering Institution.
Qualifications in the requirements of BS standards etc.
CMS Design, Load calculations, Cable sizing, transformer sizing, LV Design, Single Line drawings, etc
Multi Disciplinary design coordination.
Extensive experience of working within a rail station environment and good working knowledge of Network Rail, TfL & LUL standards.
Experience of contributing to the electrical design on multidisciplinary projects and knowledge of rail design assurance processes.
Good knowledge and understanding of the requirements necessary to develop and progress projects through the early stages of the lifecycle – LUL, GRIP and RIBA.
Competent in the production or modification of CAD drawings using an industry standard CAD system.
Experience of electrical design in the Rail environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
The applicant will have proven experience in the design of Railway infra projects with significant experience in a similar role or demonstration of a good track record.
The senior applicants should ideally have obtained British Chartered Engineer status or equivalent, possess a degree in Building Services Engineering and possess membership to an accredited engineering body
This includes undertaking feasibility studies and developing concepts through to detailed design, specification and tender to the required standards.
Good presentation skills are also required
Must be fully conversant with technical software, such as IES, HAP, Hevacomp and manufacturer’s software.
A sound understanding of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Project is essential
Must be fluent in English with an excellent understanding of technical terminology.

Promote technical excellence in all our projects.
Undertake technical reviews, peer reviews, checks and contribute to the design
Develop positive professional relationship with the WSP UK Team, communicating openly about project progress
Supervise, coordinate and support other project Engineers and CAD Technicians
Ensure that Health & Safety is embedded into all work practices in line with company policies
Ensure statutory and regulatory requirements are met within the design
Participate in Project meetings, team meetings, disseminate information within the team, and communicate with other teams in WSP.
Identify and act on, or refer, potential risk issues and follow in full the company commercial and contracting processes
Manage delegated tasks to ensure that deadlines are met and flag resourcing concerns to team leader
Complete timesheet accurately ahead of weekly deadlines.
