Hands-on experience working with .msi packages and creating silent wrappers for COTS (Commercial Off-The-Shelf) and LOB (Line-of-Business) applications
Proficiency with Microsoft Intune and IntuneWin package formats
Strong scripting skills , preferably in PowerShell
Solid knowledge of Intune and SCCM (System Center Configuration Manager) , particularly in the application deployment domain
In-depth understanding of the Windows operating system , including file system , registry , services , and related components
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Clear understanding of end-to-end Application Lifecycle Management p rocesses — from packaging and testing to deployment, maintenance, and retirement
Their responsibilities will include :
Discover all installed applications across the environment.
Compile inventory of applications currently deployed via SCCM.
Analyze and rationalize discovered apps to identify actively used applications.
Identify unmanaged, duplicate, or obsolete applications.
Assess compatibility of applications for Windows 11 and Intune deployment.
Fix existing package issues and repackage as needed (MSI, IntuneWin formats only).
Facilitate user acceptance testing (UAT) and certify applications for production.
Package complex, time-consuming tech service applications (~50–80 known apps).
Create and maintain custom installation scripts or wrappers (e.g., PowerShell).
Import packaged applications into the AdminStudio catalog.
Stage and assign applications in Intune.
Troubleshoot deployment issues and resolve app assignment failures.
Perform core application updates, AP testing, and FOMS patching.
Oversee deployments and generate deployment reports.
Periodically review and clean up unused applications.
Maintain documentation on packaging process, versioning, and application ownership.
