Senior Developer

Purpose of Position

Perform a variety of technical PoCs and programming assignments requiring knowledge of established programming and data processing techniques. Will also need to engage with Business Stakeholders and other IT teams with minimal supervision towards planned delivery commitments. May also need to guide / lead a small group of developers undertaking similar activities on a team project

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

Prior experience in engaging with Business and IT stakeholders with ownership and minimal supervision on delivery commitments

Undertake Analysis, Design and Development of new applications and maintaining existing systems by undertaking prioritised enhancements from the product backlog

Ensure software testing and quality assurance processes across the organisation are followed

Provide estimates for tasks and the development of new features

Liaise with internal business users towards requirements and delivery

Undertake performance tuning, refactoring / redesign, automation, integration, PoCs as needed from time to time

Constantly update technical knowledge and skills by attending in-house and / or externally offered courses, and undertaking on-the-job learning by undertaking development and maintenance on new systems built using the latest technologies as required by the organisation

Demonstrate clear, effective verbal and written communication skills with all levels of staff within the Technology and Business environment

May need to lead a small group of developers undertaking similar activities on a joint project

Ensuring adherence to development methodology, documentation procedures, CAB and PMO practices

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Computer Science or related numerate

Strong application development experience within a Microsoft .NET based environment

Demonstrates good written and verbal communication skills in leading a small group of Developers and liaising with Business and IT stakeholders on agreed delivery commitments

Demonstrates capability of proactive end-to-end ownership of product delivery including delivery to estimates, robust hosting, smooth release management, and consistency in quality to ensure overall satisfied product enhancement experience for the Product Owner and the wider, global end-user community

Demonstrates good proficiency with established ageing tech stack but has also gained familiarity with new technologies as per market trends, which will be key to mutual success for the candidate and the organisation in context with ongoing Business and IT transformation.

Essential skills

Proficiency in C#, ASP.NET Webforms, MVC, WebAPI, jQuery, Angular, Entity Framework, SQL Server, XML, XSLT, JSON, .NET Core

Familiarity with WPF, WCF, SSIS, SSRS, Azure DevOps, Cloud Technologies (Azure)

Good analytical and communication skills

Proficiency with Agile and Waterfall methodologies

Desirable skills

Familiarity with hosting and server infrastructure.
