Job Summary :
The Facilities Sr. ELV Project Engineer will represent the Client at the project site and will be responsible for overseeing and managing all ELV (Extra-Low Voltage) system activities executed by the General Contractor (GC), Project Management Consultant (PMC), and GC’s sub-vendors. The role involves ensuring strict compliance with project specifications, timelines, safety standards, and quality benchmarks. The engineer will act as a key liaison between the client, GC, PMC, and sub-contractors to ensure seamless execution and integration of ELV systems within the overall construction framework.
Key Roles & Responsibilities :
- Act as the client’s technical representative for all ELV-related works on site.
- Monitor and review the work of GC, PMC, and sub-vendors to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and project specifications.
- Conduct regular site inspections and escalate any deviations, delays, or quality issues to the client management team.
- Review ELV designs, drawings, and technical submittals submitted by GC and ensure adherence to approved design intent and local authority regulations.
- Validate shop drawings and provide technical input for resolving design conflicts or interface issues.
- Track installation progress of all ELV systems (Fire Alarm, CCTV, Access Control, FMCS BMS, Structured Cabling, PA Systems, IPTV, etc.) by GC and its sub-vendors.
- Ensure that installation works are executed in compliance with project specifications, standards, and safety requirements.
- Participate in daily coordination meetings with GC and PMC to monitor progress and resolve execution challenges.
- Interface with PMC and GC teams to resolve technical issues and ensure smooth integration of ELV systems with other services like MEP and Architectural works.
- Ensure timely approvals of submittals and RFI responses in coordination with client and consultant teams.
- Facilitate technical workshops between ELV vendors, IT teams, and building automation specialists for system interoperability.
- Review and verify QC documents, inspection reports, and test results submitted by GC and their sub-contractors.
- Ensure compliance with NFPA, BICSI, TIA, BS, EN, and local authority codes.
- Conduct joint inspections with PMC and client QA / QC team prior to work acceptance.
- Enforce strict adherence to site safety standards and participate in safety audits for ELV works.
- Review and approve testing and commissioning plans submitted by GC for all ELV systems.
- Witness critical testing stages, SAT (Site Acceptance Test), and FAT (Factory Acceptance Test).
- Verify completeness of as-built documentation, O&M manuals, and training programs for end-users before final handover.
- Prepare and submit daily / weekly progress reports to the client management team highlighting key milestones, risks, and issues.
- Document and track all correspondence with GC, PMC, and sub-vendors to maintain contractual and technical clarity.
- Ensure timely resolution of NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports) and maintain a closure log.
- Review and provide inputs on change orders related to ELV scope.
- Assess impact of design changes on cost and schedule in coordination with client and PMC.
- Identify potential risks in execution and suggest mitigation strategies to client management.
- Act as the primary client-side liaison for ELV vendors, consultants, and GC sub-contractors.
- Ensure smooth coordination during material inspection, FAT, delivery schedules, and site installation.
- Guide client-side junior engineers or inspectors on ELV systems best practices.
- Support client management in strategic decision-making for technology upgrades or alternate solutions.
Qualifications :
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical / Electronics / Telecommunications / Instrumentation Engineering or equivalent.10-15 years’ experience in ELV system execution, including large-scale commercial / industrial projects.Technical Skills Required :
Comprehensive knowledge of ELV systems : Fire Alarm, CCTV, Access Control, BMS, IPTV, PA Systems, Structured Cabling, and Integrated Security Solutions.Familiarity with international and local authority standards : NFPA, BICSI, ANSI / TIA, BS, EN.Strong capability in interpreting ELV system designs and identifying installation gaps.Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Project / Primavera, and MS Office tools.
