Role Overview
The IPTX-L2 Operations is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of complex IP networks, focusing on multi-vendor environments (Here Cisco, Juniper, NG-DU and Dasan). This role requires hands-on expertise in advanced networking protocols and technologies, as well as strong analytical and problem-solving skills to ensure high network availability and performance.
Key Responsibilities
Network Operations & Troubleshooting
Manage, monitor, and troubleshoot IP networks, having ISIS, BGP, SRv6, L2VPN, L3VPN, E-VPN, QoS, IPv6 technologies are present.
Troubleshoot the transit network traffic management (BGP attributes, route-policy manipulation etc).
Troubleshoot ISIS level division, configure ISIS process IDs, implement loop prevention, and conduct route checks.
Utilize ping, trace, port-mirroring, and Wireshark for in-depth data analysis and diagnostics.
Conduct alarm analysis, operational maintenance, and configuration on multi-vendor devices such as :
Cisco routers (ASRs, N9K on XE platform), Catalyst switches (2900, 3600 series)
Juniper routers (MX300, MX900, ERX / SRX), Dasan
Configure and troubleshoot SRv6 L2VPN, SRv6 L3VPN, and E-VPN solutions.
Incident & Fault Management
Analyse and resolve trouble tickets raised by customers or L1 teams.
Manage faults on all routers and switches, escalating to vendor support as needed.
Identify root causes of Priority 1 and Priority 2 incidents and recommend corrective actions.
Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for critical events as identified by the customer.
Network Performance & Change Management
Perform node health checks and analyse network performance issues.
Implement network changes in accordance with Change Request (CR) processes.
Support integration and acceptance of new network nodes.
Ensure compliance with SNMP-based network management and troubleshooting.
Capacity & Compliance
Monitor network capacity and report potential breaches.
Ensure all devices have current licenses and software versions suitable for operational requirements.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate records of network configurations, incidents, and changes.
Provide regular reports on network health, capacity, and incident resolution.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with :
IP Networking, OSPF, ISIS, MPLS, L2VPN, L3VPN, E-VPN, QoS, IPv6, SR, and SRv6.
OSPF area division, ISIS process IDs, loop prevention, route checks, ping & trace, port-mirroring, and Wireshark analysis.
Experience with Cisco (ASR, N9K, Catalyst 2900 / 3600) and Juniper (MX300, MX900, ERX / SRX) devices.
Proficient in alarm analysis, troubleshooting, and configuration in multi-vendor environments.
Strong analytical, logical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Vendor Management.
Experience with SRv6 L2VPN, SRv6 L3VPN, and E-VPN configuration and troubleshooting.
A good understanding of python script based logic building skills to fetch command based outputs for deep analysis.
Must be familiar with AI / ML ideas for complex network’s automation schemes.
Familiarity with SNMP for network management.
Ability to handle assignments independently and manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Electronics, or related field.
Cisco Certification (CCNP / CCIP) is highly preferred.
JUNOS Certification JNCIA / JNCP.
Experience in capacity management and network performance reporting.
Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, 24x7 operational environment.
