Topogineer (Cut / Fill Engineer) will run topography analysis for solar sites based on project parameters, include :
- Terrain Analysis & Modeling :
- Run in-house topography analysis using client-provided site layouts and survey data.
- Create accurate proposed surfaces, grading heat maps, and 3D terrain models in AutoCAD Civil 3D .
- Optimize site grading plans to minimize earthwork (cut / fill) volumes while adhering to design constraints.
- Reporting & Documentation :
- Prepare and present stickup analysis reports , highlighting terrain constraints, earthwork balances, and design risks.
- Generate visualizations (e.g., heat maps, contour plots) to communicate grading impacts to stakeholders.
- Quality Control & Algorithm Development :
- Perform QC assessments of automated grading algorithms and modeling outputs.
- Develop / maintain Python scripts to enhance terrain analysis efficiency and accuracy.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration :
- Interface with Application Engineering teams to clarify project requirements and constraints.
- Support Project teams in integrating topographical data into broader site assessments.
- Provide technical input to optimize solar array layouts based on terrain feedback.
- Process Improvement :
- Streamline workflows for topography analysis, data processing, and reporting using Excel (advanced functions, macros) and automation tools.
- Validate and improve digital terrain models (DTMs) for accuracy and compliance.
Topogineer Skills, Qualifications and Education :
Min 3-4 years of Experience in solar energy projects or renewable energy site development.Knowledge of erosion control, drainage design, or stormwater management.Familiarity with surveying principles (RTK GPS, total stations).Experience with BIM workflows or other CAD tools.Solar-Specific : Targets terrain optimization for solar farms.Technical Depth : Explicitly links tools (Python, Civil 3D) to tasks (algorithm QC, surface creation).Collaboration : Emphasizes cross-functional teamwork with App Engineering / GISStrong analytical and problem-solving abilities.Excellent communication for cross-team collaboration.Meticulous attention to detail in data validation and QC.Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
