As the Director, Data Strategy and Governance , you will operationalize Amgen's data governance vision across the enterprise. Your primary responsibility will be to translate the direction from the Enterprise Data Council into operational deliverables, policies, and standards. You will lead the Enterprise Data Governance program, manage a team of specialists, and partner with senior leadership to align data initiatives with business goals. This role is critical for accelerating AI innovative solutions and ensuring Amgen's transformation into a data-driven organization.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Program Leadership & Governance : You will have overall accountability for the Enterprise Data Governance program. This includes leading multi-functional Data Governance Forums and driving compliance with regulations like GDPR and CCPA . You will also be responsible for rolling out and increasing the adoption of the Enterprise Data Governance Framework.
- Team & Stakeholder Management : Manage and mentor the Data Strategy & Governance Leads. You will serve as the primary escalation point for operational-level data and process issues, resolving or escalating them through the interpretation of Enterprise Data Council objectives.
- Standards & Documentation : Establish enterprise-level standards for the nomenclature, content, and structure of information, including metadata, glossaries, and taxonomies. Your team will be the experts on data definitions, data flows, and common data models, maintaining all necessary documentation.
- Quality & Improvement : Identify areas for data governance improvements and help resolve data quality problems. You will develop metrics to measure the effectiveness and adoption of data governance policies and standards.
- Foundation & Technology : Jointly with technology and business teams, you will define the specifications that shape the development and implementation of data foundations. You will also have a strong understanding of data management, common data models, and master data management ( MDM ).
Qualifications
A Doctorate degree with 4 years of experience, a Master's degree with 14-16 years of experience, or a Bachelor's degree with 16-18 years of experience in Information Systems.6 years of managerial experience directly managing people and leading teams or projects.In-depth knowledge and experience with data governance principles and technology, including the ability to design and implement Data Governance operating models.Technical skills with in-depth knowledge of Pharma processes, with a preferred specialization in a domain ( e.g., Research, Clinical Trials ).Experience with data products development life cycle and the enablement of data dictionaries and business glossaries.Experience with modeling tools ( e.g., Visio ), data visualization, and data modeling tools is a plus.Soft Skills
