As Assistant General Manager – Interior Design, you will lead the strategic direction, execution, and quality assurance of interior design across our project portfolio. This role demands a blend of design excellence, project leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and process ownership. You will play a key role in aligning interior outcomes with brand vision, customer expectations, and commercial goals.
As an Assistant General Manager – Interior Design, you will be responsible for :
Interior Design Strategy & Innovation
- Define and drive the interior design philosophy and vision across all projects, ensuring alignment with brand positioning and the needs of target customer segments.
- Translate product strategy into compelling spatial layouts, material palettes, and design narratives.
- Conduct competitive benchmarking, monitor industry trends, and introduce innovative concepts that enhance differentiation and user experience.
- Collaborate with Marketing, Branding, and Sales to ensure that the design language reinforces the overall brand story and customer promise.
Project Ownership & Execution
Lead the end-to-end interior design lifecycle, concept development to final execution, across all projects.Create, review, and refine layouts, technical drawings, and material specifications for accuracy, feasibility, and design quality.Coordinate closely with Architecture, Civil, MEP, and site teams to ensure integrated planning and conflict resolution.Supervise on-site execution to ensure timely delivery, design fidelity, budget adherence, and quality control.Maintain comprehensive documentation for all interior design projects including drawings, BOQs, material selections, and quality checklists.Coordination with Internal & External Stakeholders
Collaborate with the procurement team to identify, evaluate, and finalize vendors and contractors as per project timelines.Monitor and track project costs; recommend value engineering solutions when necessary.Review consultant drawings, ensuring accuracy and addressing discrepancies promptly.Quality & Design Assurance
Set and uphold standards for design quality, material usage, finish levels, and workmanship across all interior packages.Proactively identify recurring execution issues or deviations and drive systemic improvements with internal teams or vendors.Incorporate customer and CRM feedback post-handover into future design decisions to foster continuous improvement.Rigorously review consultant drawings for completeness, practicality, and adherence to Viceroy’s standards.Stay informed on new materials, sustainability practices, and cost-effective alternatives; proactively pilot innovations where relevant.Cost Management
Drive a structured reporting mechanism with periodic updates and MIS dashboards for leadership and interdepartmental use.Identify, assess, and onboard experienced interior consultants, contractors, and vendors based on project needs and quality standards.Partner with Procurement to finalize vendor selections, ensuring quality-cost balance and execution capability.Conduct value engineering exercises without compromising design integrity or user experience.Monitor project-level design budgets and recommend course corrections where necessary.Stakeholder Collaboration
Engage regularly with key departments, Architecture, Engineering, Sales, CRM, Marketing & Branding and Finance, for design alignment and operational execution.Present interior design concepts, development progress, and key challenges to senior leadership for input and decision-making.Integrate customer insights, feedback from the field, and operational learnings into design strategy and decision-making.Leadership & Process Excellence
Lead and mentor the internal design team, fostering a culture of excellence, creativity, and accountability.Promote continuous improvement through process refinement, documentation, and team capability building.Set up robust systems to track project documentation, quality compliance, and consultant / vendor performance.Prepare and share periodic status reports, dashboards, and audit summaries for internal stakeholders and senior leadershipCore Requirements
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Interior Design / Architecture.10+ years of relevant experience, preferably in the real estate or luxury residential / commercial development sector.Proficient in AutoCAD, SketchUp, PowerPoint presentations, and AI-based presentation tools; knowledge of Photoshop will be an advantage.Exceptional eye for design, detail, materials, and finishes.Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a solution-oriented mindset.Excellent organizational and coordination skills, with an ability to manage multiple priorities.Excellent communication and presentation skills.
