Engineering Manager | Early-Stage AI Portfolio Company

One of our early-stage AI portfolio companies building in the healthcare space is looking for an experienced Engineering Manager as one of their first tech hires.

Responsibilities

Drive architectural decisions, establish engineering standards, and mentor the existing team while scaling to 10+ engineers

Build reliable agent orchestration using Temporal workflows and modern agentic frameworks.

Lead hiring for critical technical roles, establish engineering culture, and build processes that scale

Take end-to-end responsibility for system reliability, performance, and compliance in revenue-critical environments

Navigate HIPAA compliance, healthcare regulations, and audit requirements at the architectural level

Qualifications

Former founder strongly preferred or significant early-stage startup experience (pre-Series A)

5-7 years building production systems that handle real user problems

Built at least one indie project involving AI / automation

Strong engineering fundamentals : distributed systems, databases, cloud infrastructure

Experience with Python, workflow orchestration tools, AWS ecosystem

Experience attracting and managing high-quality talent

Comfortable with healthcare / fintech-level regulatory requirements
