Role Description
This is a full-time, entry-level position for a
Mortgage Loan Compliance Reviewer
based in our Mumbai office, supporting operations in the US mortgage industry. The role is ideal for a junior candidate with foundational knowledge of US mortgage processes, regulatory frameworks, and compliance concepts.
The position involves assisting with compliance reviews of mortgage loans to ensure adherence to federal, state, and agency regulations, including those from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and guidelines set by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Responsibilities include reviewing loan files for regulatory accuracy, identifying potential compliance risks, supporting senior reviewers in evaluating processes, and helping to document corrective recommendations.
The role also offers opportunities to collaborate with origination, underwriting, and servicing teams, prepare compliance summaries, and build expertise in evolving mortgage regulations while contributing to a culture of risk awareness and regulatory compliance.
Qualifications
In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in US mortgages, loan origination, and servicing processes
Strong background in mortgage compliance, including familiarity with federal regulations (e.g., TILA, RESPA, ECOA, HMDA) and agency-specific requirements from Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and FHA / VA programs
Proficiency in financial analysis, risk assessment, and audit methodologies within the mortgage sector
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams and presenting findings to senior leadership
Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify and resolve complex compliance challenges
Relevant certifications such as Certified Mortgage Compliance Professional (CMCP), Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM), or similar in mortgage lending / compliance are a plus
3+ years of experience in mortgage loan review or compliance auditing within a US financial institution
Compensation
The position pays 5 to 6 LPA, depending on overall experience.
