Job description

Role Overview :

As a VMware Administrator (L3), you will be responsible for the design, deployment, administration, performance optimization, and troubleshooting of enterprise VMware environments. This role demands strong expertise in virtualization technologies, advanced troubleshooting skills, and managing large-scale, mission-critical environments with high availability and disaster recovery solutions.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Provide L3 support for VMware vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, vSAN, and related VMware technologies.
  • Design, implement, and manage virtualized infrastructure, including clusters, hosts, resource pools, and VMs.
  • Perform upgrades, patching, migrations, and capacity planning of VMware environments.
  • Manage vMotion, DRS, HA, vSAN, SRM, and NSX where applicable.
  • Troubleshoot escalated issues related to VMs, hosts, networking, and storage integration.
  • Collaborate with storage, networking, and server teams for integrated infrastructure solutions.
  • Implement backup and disaster recovery strategies using tools like Veeam, Commvault, or similar.
  • Automate tasks using PowerCLI, PowerShell, or Python scripts.
  • Maintain documentation, SOPs, and ensure compliance with ITIL processes.
  • Participate in on-call support rotation and provide RCA for high-severity incidents.

Required Skills & Experience :

  • Strong expertise in VMware vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, vSAN, SRM, and HA / DRS.
  • Experience with VMware NSX or Horizon VDI is a plus.
  • Knowledge of storage integration (SAN, NAS, iSCSI, NFS) with VMware.
  • Familiarity with Windows / Linux OS administration in virtualized environments.
  • Performance tuning, monitoring, and troubleshooting of virtualized environments.
  • Hands-on experience with backup / restore tools (Veeam, Commvault, etc.).
  • Scripting for automation using PowerCLI, PowerShell, or Python.
  • Exposure to cloud-based virtualization (VMware Cloud, AWS, Azure) is an advantage.
  • Willingness to work in rotational shifts (shift cab allowances provided).
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP-DCV) or higher (VCAP, VCDX).
  • Experience in large enterprise environments (multi-site, thousands of VMs).
  • Familiarity with DevOps, containers (Kubernetes / Docker), and hybrid cloud models.
