Job description

Key Responsibilities :

  • Quality Assurance & Documentation :
  • Ensure the quality of raw materials, intermediates, finished goods, and packing materials as per QC specifications.
  • Generate Certificates of Analysis for all batches produced.
  • Maintain control samples of all finished goods and raw materials with proper tracking records.
  • Lab Testing & Calibration :
  • Prepare lab batches of finished goods when required.
  • Ensure and assist in the timely calibration of instruments used in QC testing.
  • Maintain records related to QC testing of all materials involved in production.
  • Compliance & Safety :
  • Ensure compliance with ISO standards in the laboratory.
  • Ensure the availability of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for materials used in the Construction Chemicals Plant.
  • Help ensure compliance with audits conducted in the laboratory.
  • Ensure the highest safety standards in the laboratory and plant.
  • Maintain PPE usage and foster a safety culture within the lab and the plant.
  • Record Keeping & Reporting :
  • Maintain records of raw material certificates of analysis and Excel entries for finished goods / raw materials.
  • Generate daily reports related to QC activities and batch analysis.
  • Resource Management & Efficiency :
  • Ensure the availability of resources in the laboratory to prevent delays in productivity due to testing.
  • Maintain monthly records of lab consumables.
  • Customer Complaints & Investigations :
  • Investigate customer complaints for root cause analysis in coordination with the Quality Control Officer.
  • Process Improvement :
  • Ensure continual improvements in testing procedures for raw materials, packing materials, and finished goods.
  • Monitor Statistical Process Control (SPC) charts for key parameters of admixture systems and construction systems products on a monthly basis.
  • Documentation & Monitoring :
  • Report unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, stop cards, or quality near misses with documented evidence monthly in coordination with the Quality Control Officer.
  • Monitor and review the MSDS management for Turbhe plant, ensuring all MSDS are up-to-date and available in hard copies with an index list.
  • Rework & Reprocess Management :
  • Maintain details pertaining to reprocess and rework with documented records on a monthly basis.
  • Weight Verification & Cross-Verification :
  • Cross-check the weight of finished products daily, maintaining records for verification.
  • Training & Housekeeping :
  • Train lab technicians on all QC-related activities.
  • Ensure regular housekeeping in the QC lab, maintaining cleanliness of tools, equipment, and work areas.

Qualifications / Experience :

  • Education :
  • B.Sc. in Chemistry.
  • Experience :
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a relevant field, preferably in a chemical manufacturing or construction chemicals plant.
  • Competencies :

  • Functional :
  • Knowledge of good laboratory practices and safety standards.
  • Strong understanding of QC methods, procedures, and equipment handling.
  • Proficient in MS Excel and lab-related documentation.
  • Behavioral :
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving and root cause analysis.
  • Ability to work in a team and train lab personnel effectively.
  • Commitment to safety, housekeeping, and continuous improvement.
