What is the job like?

We deliver content to our customers through multiple channels, one of them mobile and Smart TV applications. We have ambitious goals to scale growth and adoption of our applications and delight our customers with a great product.

As a Senior Engineering Manager, you will build and lead a team of engineers (android / iOS / multi-platform apps) that will own all the device applications in NW18 ecosystem. You'll ensure that the best engineering practices are followed and that our software is of the highest quality. You will partner with product management to help define & develop a roadmap of a customer delighting features, and then deliver those features. You are expected to scope a project and evaluate releases to ensure they meet business needs. You can determine where to simplify, optimize, or extend solutions for the best outcomes. You drive definition of software architecture as well as drive resolution of any deficiencies in the existing one. You establish and / or streamline development, test, and operational excellence best practices and share with your peers. You can work independently, mitigate risks, and find a path forward in difficult situations. You demonstrate good judgment in how and when to escalate without damaging relationships. When confronted with discordant views, you can find the best way forward and influence others to follow that path (build consensus). You can hire effectively, manage performance, coach team members, and drive their career progression.

Who should apply for this role?

• 10 to 15 years of engineering experience
• 5+ years of non-internship professional front-end, web or mobile software development experience
• 5+ years of leading the definition and development of multi-tier consumer applications.
• 3+ years of engineering team management experience
• Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems.
• Experience partnering with product or program management teams.
• Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing and certifications.
• Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy.
• Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring / coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective.
