The role oversees all activities related to materials purchasing, material control, inventory management, shipping / receiving, and warehouse operations. It ensures that materials are procured, available, and controlled efficiently to support production and business requirements while maintaining optimal inventory levels. The position also leads the development and implementation of material control policies, systems, and procedures, and ensures effective coordination with Purchasing, Production, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams. The role involves leading a team of planners and driving continuous improvement across planning processes and systems.
Key Responsibilities :
Materials Planning & Control :
- Oversee purchasing, material control, inventory control, stores, and shipping / receiving operations.
- Develop, implement, and maintain materials management policies, procedures, and control systems.
- Ensure materials are ordered, tracked, and maintained at levels that support production while optimizing working capital.
- Create material schedules and coordinate with purchasing, production, and engineering to enable smooth material flow.
- Review and plan material requirements, and prepare material requirement plans using ERP / MRP systems.
- Support the establishment, enhancement, and governance of production control systems.
Leadership & Team Management :
Lead and develop a team of central customer planners, ensuring operational effectiveness and capability building.Recruit, onboard, coach, and mentor planning team members in alignment with organizational HR guidelines and best practices.Planning Excellence & Decision Support :
Utilize strong data analytics skills to extract, interpret, and use data for informed decision-making.Drive planning strategies that support service levels, continuity of supply, and customer commitments.Shift the service / inventory performance curve through improved demand-supply balancing.Reduce lead time in demand-supply matching and improve & Partner Collaboration :Collaborate closely with customers, suppliers, and internal partners across time zones to enable rapid information flow.Build strong coordination across departments including Purchasing, Production, Quality, Logistics, and Customer Operations.Drive synergy and communication across teams to enable fast issue resolution.Process Improvement & Governance :
Apply process controls, leading indicators, and measurement systems to proactively drive performance.Identify process waste and lead automation initiatives to improve speed and accuracy.Lead and support process improvement initiatives across four key areas :
