THE ROLE

Our team is growing! Our offshore team in India is vital to the successful delivery of projects internationally and we are now looking for both a Software Engineer and Senior Software Engineer with experience in a PHP environment to join the team. The successful candidates will contribute to the design and development of software systems on behalf of our clients. You will be responsible for ensuring any assigned project work is delivered on time and to a high standard and play a key role in demonstrating software solutions to your team members and clients.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supporting in the development of complex software systems, ensuring scalability, performance, and reliability.
  • Ensuring any solutions align with client requirements.
  • Contributing to discussions concerning solution design, working closely with Senior and Principal Developers.
  • Determining the structure and design of web pages, optimising for speed and scalability.
  • Maintaining high quality code with clear and comprehensive documentation
  • Participating in coding reviews and adhering to coding guidelines, identifying and resolving coding problems.
  • Implementing design patterns to support solution development.
  • Identifying and rectifying security weaknesses within project solutions, ensuring source code, configuration, and systems are kept secure.
  • Undertaking training courses as required, actively engaging with learning opportunities as and when they arise.
  • Participate in knowledge sharing with the wider development team, providing guidance to junior team members where appropriate.
  • Working closely with cross-functional teams, including project management, quality assurance, and operations, to ensure successful software delivery.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Experience of LAMP stack
  • Experience of working as a Software Engineer in a cloud / PHP environment
  • Experience working in an Agile software development setup
  • Strong experience of APIs (design and implementation) and Web services
  • Strong backend and database skills
  • Strong experience of cloud SaaS platforms (AWS and / or Azure and / or GCP)
  • Advanced knowledge of GIT
  • Strong knowledge of CI / CD systems & pipelines (TeamCity, GitHub Actions, etc.)
  • Experience of monitoring and logging techniques
  • Strong foundations in security considerations
  • Proven track record of writing clean, fast, modern, quality PHP code
  • Strong knowledge of Object-Oriented native PHP programming
  • Strong knowledge of design patterns (MVC, Strategy, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of accessibility and security compliance
  • Strong experience of writing unit tests with PHPUnit and / or Pest
  • Understanding of front-end technologies such as jQuery, HTML5, and CSS3
  • Strong knowledge of web security, web server exploits, and their solutions
  • Understanding fundamental design principles behind a scalable application
  • User authentication and authorization between multiple systems, servers, and environments
  • Integration of multiple data sources and databases into one system
  • Creating database migrations that represent and support business processes
  • Familiarity with SQL / NoSQL databases and their declarative query languages
  • Deep understanding of Git workflow and Code Review processes
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present clearly to clients.
