Job description

Join our dynamic, globally-distributed on-premises cloud platform team as an OpenShift Virtualization Engineer. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the architecture, implementation, and administration of our OpenShift Virtualization (KubeVirt) service.

You will be instrumental in ensuring the stability, high performance, and security of our virtualized workloads. The ideal candidate possesses deep technical expertise in Kubernetes, OpenShift, and virtualization, combined with a strong commitment to Day-2 operations, proactive monitoring, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities : Operations and Observability :

  • Design, implement, and maintain comprehensive end-to-end observability solutions (monitoring, logging, tracing) using tools like Dynatrace, Prometheus, and Grafana.
  • Proactively monitor the health, performance, and resource utilization of Virtual Machines (VMs) and the underlying platform to ensure stability and identify potential issues.
  • Perform deep-dive root cause analysis (RCA) to rapidly identify and resolve complex issues across our global compute environment.
  • Explore and implement Event-Driven Architecture (EDA) to enhance real-time monitoring and automated response Design and Consulting :
  • Serve as a subject matter expert, providing technical consulting and guidance to application teams on leveraging OpenShift Virtualization.
  • Design, validate, and implement custom or dedicated OpenShift Virtualization clusters and VM solutions to meet unique or complex application Management :
  • Create, maintain, and update comprehensive internal documentation, runbooks, and customer-facing guides to promote self-service and clearly articulate platform Qualifications & Skills :
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, with a minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience with Kubernetes and / or OpenShift platforms.
  • Proven production experience managing OpenShift Virtualization (KubeVirt).
  • In-depth knowledge of Kubernetes concepts, including Pods, Deployments, Services, StorageClasses, Operators, and Custom Resources.
  • Strong proficiency in Linux administration and a solid understanding of networking and storage fundamentals.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages for automation (e.g., Bash, Python).
  • Excellent problem-solving and technical troubleshooting skills with the ability to analyze complex issues across the entire technology stack.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional Qualifications & Skills :
  • Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Virtualization or other relevant industry certifications.
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Ansible and Terraform.
  • Familiarity with CI / CD pipelines and tools (e.g., Tekton, GitHub Actions).
  • Experience with public cloud providers (GCP, AWS, Azure) and hybrid cloud architectures.
  • Knowledge of Software-Defined Networking (SDN) and Software-Defined Storage (SDS) solutions.
