Role Summary
We are seeking a skilled Control-M Scheduler to join our mainframe operations team. The role involves defining, managing, and monitoring batch job schedules using BMC Control-M on IBM z / OS systems . The ideal candidate will ensure efficient and reliable job execution across business-critical enterprise workloads while collaborating with cross-functional teams to support smooth IT operations.
Key Responsibilities
Job Scheduling & Management
- Create, configure, and maintain job scheduling definitions using Control-M for z / OS .
- Define calendars (regular, periodic, rule-based) and SMART tables for effective job execution.
- Manage job dependencies, prerequisites, conditions, and system resources.
Monitoring & Troubleshooting
Monitor job executions and handle scheduling conflicts or failures.Utilize Control-M Monitor and CMEM (Control-M Event Manager) to track active jobs and exceptions.Perform root cause analysis and provide timely resolution of job issues.Automation & Optimization
Implement New Day processing and automate job submission workflows.Apply AutoEdit variables to dynamically update JCL at runtime.Continuously optimize job schedules to improve efficiency and system performance.Collaboration & Support
Partner with application teams, DBAs, and system programmers to align schedules with business needs.Provide on-call support for job scheduling issues and job failures.Assist in change management and deployment activities related to Control-M.Documentation & Compliance
Prepare and maintain documentation for job definitions, scheduling rules, and procedures.Ensure adherence to compliance, audit standards, and organizational best practices .Required Skills & Qualifications
Technical Expertise :
Strong working knowledge of Control-M for z / OS, JCL, and mainframe batch processing .Proficiency with IOA components such as CMEM, AutoEdit, and SMART Tables .Experience :
3–7 years of hands-on experience in job scheduling and workload automation on mainframe platforms.Experience with Control-M utilities and troubleshooting tools .Soft Skills :
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills .Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with cross-functional teams.Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative environment.Preferred Qualifications
BMC Control-M certification or equivalent formal training.Experience working in large-scale enterprise environments with complex and critical batch workflows
