Job Summary :
The Team Manager – Freight Brokerage Process is responsible for leading a team of freight brokers, dispatchers, and coordinators to ensure smooth, profitable, and compliant freight operations. The role focuses on performance management, process improvement, customer satisfaction, and maintaining strong relationships with carriers and shippers. The manager will oversee the end-to-end brokerage cycle—from load acquisition to delivery and settlement—ensuring operational excellence and profitability.
Key Responsibilities : Team Leadership & Performance Management
- Supervise, mentor, and motivate a team of freight brokerage professionals.
- Set daily, weekly, and monthly performance goals aligned with company KPIs.
- Conduct regular team meetings, training sessions, and performance reviews.
- Monitor load counts, gross margins, and overall team productivity.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and customer-centric service.
Operational Oversight
Oversee end-to-end freight movement, ensuring timely pickup and delivery.Manage load posting, carrier assignment, and real-time tracking.Ensure compliance with FMCSA and company operational standards.Resolve escalations related to shipment delays, rate disputes, or carrier issues.Maintain operational dashboards and report performance metrics to management.Carrier & Customer Relations
Develop and maintain relationships with key carriers, shippers, and vendors.Negotiate competitive rates and ensure profitable load execution.Support brokers in resolving customer or carrier concerns professionally.Work with the sales and customer service teams to improve retention and satisfaction.Process Optimization & Reporting
Analyze operational data to identify inefficiencies and implement process improvements.Maintain data accuracy within the TMS (Transportation Management System).Prepare performance reports highlighting team KPIs, revenue, and cost analysis.Collaborate with management to implement new tools, technologies, or workflow enhancements.Training & Compliance
Train new team members on freight brokerage operations, software tools, and compliance requirements.Ensure all team members follow company policies and industry regulations.Maintain updated knowledge of market trends, freight rates, and transportation laws.Qualifications & Skills :
Education : Bachelor's degree preferred (Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field).Experience : Minimum 3–5 years in freight brokerage or logistics operations, including 1–2 years in a team lead or managerial role.Technical Skills :Proficiency in load boards (DAT, Load Link , Truckstop, etc.) and TMS platforms.Strong Microsoft Excel and reporting capabilities.Soft Skills :Excellent leadership and communication abilities.Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills.Analytical mindset with attention to detail.Ability to work under pressure and meet targets.Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) :
Total loads booked and delivered by the team.Gross profit margins per load and per broker.Customer and carrier retention rates.On-time performance percentage.Compliance and documentation accuracy.Employee satisfaction and turnover rates.Work Environment :
