Why this role matters
As our first Head of HR, you will architect the people strategy for a greenfield, high-throughput operation. You will own the full employee life cycle—organization design, talent acquisition, performance and rewards, ER / IR, compliance, and capability building—so our lines ramp safely and reliably. In a cleanroom manufacturing context where throughput, yield, and safety are paramount, your work will shape the systems, culture, and leadership that power the plant.
Key responsibilities
- Design and implement the people operating model : org structure across Plant HR, HRBP, TA, C&B, L&D, ER / IR, and HR Ops; phased headcount aligned to ramp plans.
- Lead end-to-end hiring for core manufacturing and corporate roles; build assessment standards, vendor strategy, campus and lateral pipelines; maintain a data-driven hiring funnel.
- Institutionalise performance and rewards : job architecture, bands, market-benchmarked compensation, variable pay; OKR / KRA cycles with governance and calibration.
- Ensure statutory and shop-floor compliance : Factories Act, CLRA, PF, ESIC, Gratuity, Maternity Benefit, Payment of Wages / Bonus, and POSH; audit-ready documentation and contractor compliance.
- Build HR operations and technology : select and implement HRMS / payroll, time & attendance, shift scheduling, leave; establish dashboards for hiring velocity, attrition, training, and compliance.
- Drive culture, safety, and capability : onboarding for cleanroom and EHS, skill-matrix mapping, technical and safety training in partnership with Operations / EHS; recognition programs tied to quality and productivity.
- Act as strategic adviser to CEO / COO / Plant Head on workforce planning, organisational health, and change management through commissioning, trials, and commercial run.
- Manage industrial relations proactively; maintain constructive engagement with authorities and local ecosystem.
What success looks like after 12 months
Headcount ramp delivered to plan; median time-to-offer ≤ 30 days on priority roles.HRMS live across payroll, T&A, shifts, and leave; executive dashboards published monthly.Zero critical statutory or POSH non-compliances; contractor audits on a defined cadence.Skill-matrix baseline completed; ≥ 90% of targeted employees trained on safety modules.Stable ER / IR environment with defined grievance and disciplinary processes.What we’re looking for
12–18 years of progressive HR experience with 5+ years in high-volume manufacturing.Proven leadership in greenfield / brownfield ramp-up environments.Strong ER / IR capability and contractor ecosystem management.Hands-on compliance expertise for factory operations and audits.Track record building in-house TA engines and managing external partners.HRMS / payroll implementation and analytics-driven decision-making.Excellent stakeholder management and communication; ability to influence from shop floor to boardroom.Education : MBA / PGDM in HR (preferred).Languages : English required; Hindi / Gujarati preferred.Preference : Prior HR leadership in solar PV cell / module manufacturing; semiconductor / electronics cleanroom experience considered.Location and relocation
On-site in Surat (base and corporate office). Relocation required; assistance provided. Work authorization in India is mandatory.
