Job description

Job Title : Junior Indexer (100% Manual)

Experience :  1–2 years  (Enthusiastic freshers who enjoy reading and have strong English skills are welcome to apply.)

Location :  Remote

Working Days :  6 days a week

Timings :   9 : 00 AM – 6 : 00 PM (Should be flexible on timings)

About the Role

We are looking for a Junior Indexer with 1–2 years of experience in book indexing. The ideal candidate should have a strong command of English, attention to detail, and the ability to create accurate, reader-friendly indexes for both analytical and narrative nonfiction titles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create precise and comprehensive indexes for  trade and scholarly books.
  • Analyze manuscript structure, themes, and terminology to establish clear subject hierarchies.
  • Ensure consistency in terminology and use of cross-references.
  • Follow publishing standards and indexing conventions.
  • Incorporate author and editor feedback in line with project style guides.
  • Work efficiently using Microsoft Word and PDF annotation tools.

Skills & Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Strong English language proficiency and excellent attention to detail.
  • Can be able to read 200-250 Pages in 6 Days.
  • Hands-on experience in  100% manual indexing.
  • Familiarity with back-of-the-book indexing conventions and publishing workflows.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and PDF tools.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, adapt to feedback, and work independently.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of maintaining high quality under tight schedules.
  • Enthusiastic about working on both analytical and narrative nonfiction projects.
