Bridge Assessment and Strengthening Specialist Role

Job Description :

Key Responsibilities :

• Conduct thorough assessments of existing bridges to identify structural issues and opportunities for strengthening or repair.
• Prepare detailed assessment reports with recommendations for steel composite and pre-tension / post-tension structures.
• Carry out feasibility studies for bridge strengthening and repair projects.
• Design and develop new bridge designs and strengthening solutions that meet UK standards and ensure compliance with relevant design and health and safety regulations.
• Carry out design and assessment checks (CAT II or CAT III) under the guidance of a senior or principal engineer.
• Compile drawings, specifications, reports, and correspondence within given deadlines while ensuring compliance with project briefs.
• Evaluate document control and QA processes to ensure accurate issue and filing / archiving of all work carried out.
• Produce high-quality work in line with WSP design standards, suggest revisions as necessary, and ensure adherence to UK design standards and WSP QA processes.
• Ensure compliance with AIP or other project requirements.
• Utilize WSP calculation templates and ensure calculation sheets comply with WSP standards.
• Use WSP Technical library and Information systems to assist design work.
• Continuously develop skills in MIDAS, LUSAS, Superstress, SAM, ARCHIE software.
• Share knowledge with colleagues and participate in team meetings and learning sessions to disseminate information.
