Resident Engineer

Job description

Supervise the work of contractors and subcontractors, ensuring they meet quality standards, project specifications, and safety requirements.

Ensure that construction activities are conducted safely and in accordance with local safety regulations.

Perform site inspections to assess the quality of work and identify issues or discrepancies.

Technical Support & Problem Solving :

Provide technical support and guidance to contractors on-site to address engineering challenges.

Coordinate with the design team and other stakeholders to resolve any issues related to drawings, designs, or specifications.

Review and approve as-built drawings, ensuring that work is being completed as per approved plans.

Quality Control & Compliance :

Ensure compliance with environmental and regulatory standards.

Maintain documentation of inspections, testing, and quality control procedures.

Conduct regular checks to ensure that materials and work comply with the technical specifications and standards.

Coordination with Stakeholders :

Act as the main point of contact between the client, contractors, and project management teams.

Coordinate with various departments, including procurement, design, and quality control.

Liaise with clients to provide updates on project progress and any challenges faced on-site.

Reporting & Documentation :

Prepare regular reports detailing the progress of work, issues encountered, and corrective actions taken.

Maintain comprehensive records of all site activities, inspections, and communications.

Monitor and update project schedules and cost estimates based on site progress and potential delays.

Safety and Risk Management :

Enforce health and safety regulations and ensure that all workers are using proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
