Design Engineer

Job Title : Senior Design Engineer – Solar Energy

Reports To : Engineering Manager or Director of Engineering

Employment Type : Full-time

Responsibilities :

• Lead the end-to-end design process of solar PV systems (rooftop, ground-mounted, carport, etc.).
• Create detailed electrical and structural design drawings using tools such as AutoCAD, Helioscope, PVsyst, and SketchUp.
• Conduct site assessments, evaluate technical feasibility, and perform energy production simulations.
• Develop single-line diagrams (SLDs), layout drawings, and equipment specifications.
• Should have the knowledge of both AC and DC Design
• Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards (NEC, IEC, IEEE), utility requirements, and local AHJs.
• Collaborate with sales, project management, and installation teams to ensure design accuracy and feasibility.
• Support permitting process by preparing and reviewing design packages.
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and support design optimization to reduce costs and improve performance.
• Stay updated on new technologies, materials, and industry trends.
• Troubleshoot design issues during project execution and provide engineering support through project lifecycle.
