Virbhu India Pvt Ltd a startup company located at Vadodara (Gujarat), wholly owned subsidiary of AK Power Solutions (www.akpowers.com) (USA), operating in the field of power electronics, has an immediate opening for a Head of Technical / development to lead development of Medium ACVoltage to medium DC voltage at 1000s of Amps with inbuilt Active Front End (AFE) converters and face shifted full bridge(PSFB) configuration to leverage the fast switching and low losses of SiC devices for high efficiency and power density using MMC topology and IGBT to develop power converters for fast growing markets such as high current DC fast Charging of trucks and buses , solar power generation , Battery energy storage systems, electrolytic deposition , electrolyzes to produce Hydrogen fuel and other applications of KA of DC current .

We are racing to the market to bring solid state transformer technology to the market.We plan to sell our first 1000 Amp converter in 2026.

AK power Solutions sells IPM (integrated power modules) for fast DC charging currently in USA and is led by an IIT graduate of 1965. In addition to this, he also leads highly profitable largest transformer manufacturer in USA.

Virbhu is part of several complexes located in Roanoke, company is in the process of acquiring a manufacturing facility.

Job Description – Senior Embedded Firmware Engineer (Power Electronics Domain)

Position : Senior Embedded Firmware Engineer

Experience Required : 7+ years in Embedded Firmware Development (Power Electronics)

Location : Vadodara, Gujarat

Department : R&D / Engineering

Role Overview :

We are seeking an experienced Senior Embedded Firmware Engineer with a strong background in power electronics applications such as DC-DC converters, solar inverters (single / three-phase), resonant converters, and active harmonic filters. The candidate should have extensive hands-on experience in developing and optimizing embedded C code for control and communication in real-time systems using DSP controllers.

The role involves designing, implementing, and validating firmware for high-performance power conversion systems, ensuring reliability, compliance, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Design, develop, and maintain embedded firmware for power electronic products including DC-DC converters, solar inverters (single / three phase), resonant converters, and active harmonic filters.
  • Implement advanced control algorithms including PLL, Clarke and Park transformations, and other DSP-based control techniques.
  • Develop and optimize code in Embedded C for real-time microcontrollers / DSPs used in power electronics applications.
  • Design and implement communication protocols such as SPI, I²C, MODBUS, and CAN for reliable device interfacing.
  • Develop and integrate HMI firmware for system control and monitoring.
  • Work closely with hardware and system engineers to validate firmware performance on prototypes and production systems.
  • Perform firmware debugging, optimization, and validation to ensure robustness and reliability.
  • Prepare technical documentation, test plans, and support certification processes.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous process improvement.

Required Qualifications & Skills :

  • Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Electronics / Electrical / Instrumentation / Computer Engineering or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in embedded firmware development within the power electronics domain.
  • Strong expertise in Embedded C programming and real-time control systems.
  • Solid understanding of power electronics topologies (DC-DC, solar inverter, resonant converters, active harmonic filters).
  • Hands-on experience with control algorithms (PLL, Clarke & Park transformation, ABC–DQ–ABC transformations).
  • Proficiency in microcontroller / DSP platforms (TI / STM32) commonly used in power conversion.
  • Practical experience with communication protocols : SPI, I²C, MODBUS, CAN.
  • Knowledge of HMI firmware development and system integration.
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills using tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and protocol analyzers.
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills.
  • Preferred Skills (Good to Have) :

  • Familiarity with RTOS and multitasking firmware design.
  • Exposure to safety standards and compliance in power electronics (e.g., IEC / UL).
  • Knowledge of EMI / EMC considerations in firmware design.
