Job Description – Senior Accountant (Jewellery Industry)

Position : Senior Accountant

Location : Dahisar

Reports To : Finance Head / Director

Experience : 6–10 years (preferred in jewellery, retail, or export-oriented companies)

Role Overview :

We are seeking an experienced and self-driven Senior Accountant to lead the finance and accounts team for our jewellery business operations in India and overseas. The role requires strong leadership, cross-border accounting exposure, vendor management, reconciliations, process improvement, and the ability to handle dynamic business requirements with a proactive and learning mindset.

Currently, the company operates in India, the UK, and Australia, with planned expansion into additional international markets. The Senior Accountant will play a pivotal role in managing accounting and compliance across these regions.

Key Responsibilities :

Team Leadership & Management

  • Act as a leader, guiding and mentoring the accounts team to achieve departmental goals.
  • Allocate, review, and monitor team deliverables to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Set processes, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and internal controls for efficiency.
  • Encourage continuous learning and upskilling within the team.

Accounting & Financial Management

  • Manage end-to-end accounting for Indian entities and overseas operations (UK, Australia, and future markets).
  • Ensure timely closing of monthly, quarterly, and annual books of accounts.
  • Prepare financial statements in compliance with applicable standards.
  • Handle inter-company transactions and ensure accurate inter-company reconciliations.
  • Oversee payment gateway reconciliations (domestic and international).
  • Maintain, update, and monitor financial data and system records.
  • Vendor & Stakeholder Management

  • Coordinate with Indian and international vendors for payments, settlements, and issue resolution.
  • Review commercial agreements from a financial and compliance perspective (legal knowledge is an advantage).
  • Collaborate with multiple consultants across countries to ensure timely statutory and tax compliance.
  • Maintain effective communication with management, external auditors, and banking / financial partners.
  • Compliance & Legal Exposure

  • Support in statutory audits, tax audits, and internal audits.
  • Ensure compliance with Indian laws and regulations.
  • Work with overseas consultants to comply with taxation and regulatory requirements of the UK, Australia, and other countries as the company expands.
  • Stay updated with changes in tax laws, accounting standards, and financial systems globally.
  • Process & System Improvement

  • Be self-driven and proactive in identifying process gaps and implementing improvements.
  • Drive automation and digital initiatives within the finance function.
  • Work with IT / system teams to improve ERP / accounting systems for seamless data flow.
  • Initiate and manage finance-related projects ensuring timely completion and adherence to deadlines.
  • Skills & Competencies :

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and reconciliation processes.
  • Exposure to international accounting and cross-border transactions (UK & Australia preferred).
  • Good understanding of payment gateways and e-commerce-related accounting.
  • Tech-savvy with working knowledge of ERP, Tally, SAP, or similar accounting systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills to engage with foreign and Indian vendors / consultants.
  • Legal knowledge of reviewing commercial contracts (added advantage).
  • Eagerness to learn tax laws and compliance requirements of other countries.
  • Ability to handle pressure, manage deadlines, and multitask effectively.
  • Qualifications :

  • Chartered Accountant (CA) / Cost Accountant (CMA) / MBA (Finance) or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum 4–6 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in jewellery, retail, or export-oriented industries.
  • Prior experience in handling multi-country accounts (especially UK and Australia) will be an added advantage.
