The WHSE Lead will be responsible for overseeing the Development, Implementation, and Maintenance of a comprehensive safety program. This includes ensuring that all activities including operations, maintenance and assessment activities comply with relevant safety regulations and standards, identifying and mitigating potential safety risks, and promoting a culture of safety throughout the organization. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in safety management, preferably within the automotive or transportation industry, and possess strong leadership skills to drive a culture of safety excellence throughout the organization and play a critical role in identifying, mitigating, and managing safety risks to protect our employees, customers, and stakeholders.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) :
- Formulate and execute a detailed safety program that encompasses policies, procedures, and guidelines essential for all company activities, including operations and maintenance tasks.
- Work in tandem with diverse teams such as engineering, operations, and legal departments to seamlessly integrate safety measures into product design, development phases, and manufacturing processes.
- Regularly conduct safety assessments to pinpoint potential hazards and risks. Formulate and implement strategies to mitigate identified risks effectively.
- Ensure strict adherence to and implementation of OHSAS, Sustainability, ESOPS, and EMS guidelines and principles. This includes the preparation and meticulous maintenance of all requisite documentation.
- Spearhead investigations into incidents to uncover root causes. Develop and institute corrective measures to forestall recurrence.
- Cultivate and maintain robust relationships with key external parties, including regulatory agencies, emergency response teams, and other pertinent stakeholders, ensuring streamlined communication and coordination.
- Oversee a dedicated team of safety professionals, providing them with the necessary resources and support to perform their responsibilities effectively.
- Collaborate closely with various internal departments such as Operations, Engineering, and E&S, guaranteeing that safety principles are ingrained in every aspect of the company’s operations.
- Design and deploy comprehensive training programs aimed at educating employees, customers, and stakeholders about the company’s safety policies, procedures, and guidelines. This includes conducting on-the-job training and periodic refresher courses to ensure all personnel are up to date with safety protocols.
- Remain abreast of the latest trends, innovations, and best practices within the safety domain to continuously enhance the company’s safety programs and initiatives.
Competencies :
Knowledge of relevant safety regulations and standards.Knowledge of Quality Core Tools - SPC, FMEA, MSA, APQP, PPAP and Process Validation.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to effectively communicate safety concepts and principles to all levels of the organization.Ability to collaborate and work effectively in a small but growing team in a start-up style / dynamic environment.An understanding of the electric mobility eco-system in India would be advantageous.Education and work experience :
Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health, engineering, or a related field.12 to 15 years of experience in safety management in an E-Mobility or automobile related industry.5 years of experience in a leadership role
