Key Responsibilities
Database Architecture & Optimization
- Design, implement, and optimize scalable multi-tenant relational database architectures (MS SQL Server / MySQL).
- Drive performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing strategies to ensure low-latency operations at scale.
- Review and improve data models, normalization, and partitioning strategies.
Security, Backup, and Compliance
Implement and enforce robust backup & disaster recovery strategies.Define and maintain data security, access control policies, and encryption-at-rest / in-transit best practices.Work with DevOps and InfoSec teams to support compliance (e.g., GDPR, SOC2, HIPAA depending on your product).Automation & Monitoring
Automate database provisioning, backup, maintenance, and monitoring using tools like Ansible or custom scripts.Set up proactive monitoring and alerting for replication lags, disk usage, slow queries, and deadlocks.Data Lifecycle Management
Collaborate with engineering to define data retention policies and archival strategies.Design efficient data migration, versioning, and upgrade processes during product releases.Collaboration & Reviews
Participate in code reviews for SQL queries and schema changes.Work closely with backend developers, DevOps, and product owners to support application performance, data pipelines, and analytics.Incident Management
Troubleshoot production incidents (high CPU, connection errors, lock waits, replication delays, etc.).Support high availability (HA) and failover strategies (active-passive, clustering, read replicas, etc.).
Requirements
Must-Have7+ years of experience managing production-grade RDBMSProven expertise in query tuning, index design, and performance diagnostics.Strong command of SQL, stored procedures, triggers, views, and functions.Hands-on with replication, backups, failover, and HA architecture.Experience with multi-tenant SaaS databases, especially schema-per-tenant or shared schema models.Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and DBaaS solutions.Proficient in automation scripts using Python, Bash, or PowerShell.Nice-to-HaveExposure to NoSQL or time-series databases like Redis, MongoDB, InfluxDB.Experience working with ORMs (SQLAlchemy, Hibernate) and ETL / data warehouse systems.Familiarity with containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes).Interview Process :
