Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Network Engineer 3 to join our Network Operations team. As part of the Tier 3 support group , you will be responsible for handling complex operational issues, ensuring network stability, and serving as a critical escalation point just below the SME and Architect levels. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in Cisco and HP routing and switching , with additional working knowledge of Palo Alto Firewalls and F5 Load Balancers being highly advantageous.
This role demands strong problem-solving skills, operational discipline, and the ability to collaborate across teams to maintain and improve the enterprise network infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as Tier 3 escalation point for network-related incidents, changes, and problem management.
- Provide advanced operational support for Cisco and HP routing and switching platforms , ensuring high availability and performance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex Layer 2 / Layer 3 issues, spanning VLANs, spanning tree, routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP).
- Collaborate with SMEs and Architects on escalated incidents, root cause analysis, and network optimization.
- Support and perform changes in alignment with ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, and Change Management).
- Assist in maintaining and improving firewall environments , with exposure to Palo Alto Networks (PA) being beneficial.
- Provide operational support for application delivery and load balancing with F5 devices (LTM, GTM, iRules knowledge advantageous).
- Participate in on-call rotation to ensure 24x7 support for critical issues.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (security, server, cloud, applications) for seamless operations.
- Assist in updating and maintaining network documentation, SOPs, and knowledge base articles .
- Provide mentorship and guidance to Tier 1 and Tier 2 engineers on escalated issues.
Required Skills & Experience
5–7 years of hands-on experience in enterprise network operations.Strong expertise in Cisco IOS / NX-OS and HP networking platforms (Comware / Aruba).In-depth knowledge of routing & switching protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, STP, HSRP / VRRP, VXLAN).Experience in handling complex incidents within an operational support environment .Familiarity with firewall operations ; Palo Alto (PA) exposure preferred .Exposure to F5 load balancing concepts (configuration, troubleshooting, traffic management).Strong knowledge of packet captures, traffic analysis, and network monitoring tools .Hands-on experience with change and incident management processes .Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.Preferred Certifications (Beneficial but not mandatory)
