The Opportunity

PowerX Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Power BI Developer to join our growing technical team. This is a full-time, 1-year contract role , requiring direct alignment with our Canadian team and clients during their business hours. You will be responsible for designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining enterprise-grade Power BI solutions that deliver actionable insights. The role demands deep technical expertise across the Power BI ecosystem, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate in a fast-paced, client-facing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Report & Dashboard Development : Design, develop, and deploy highly interactive Power BI dashboards and paginated reports .
  • Advanced DAX : Write optimized, reusable, and maintainable DAX measures to deliver complex calculations and KPIs.
  • Data Modeling : Build robust semantic models with star / snowflake schema, composite models, and optimized relationships for performance.
  • ETL with Power Query : Perform advanced data transformation, cleansing, and shaping using Power Query (M language).
  • Performance Optimization : Tune queries, data models, and visuals for large datasets to ensure scalability and speed.
  • Row-Level Security (RLS) & Governance : Implement RLS, dynamic security, and role-based access following best practices.
  • Power BI Service Management : Configure and manage workspaces, datasets, dataflows, and gateways .
  • Embedding & Integration : Deploy Power BI Embedded solutions within client portals and applications.
  • Microsoft Fabric : Utilize components of Microsoft Fabric (OneLake, Dataflows, Pipelines, etc.) to enable modern analytics solutions.
  • Deployment & Version Control : Work with deployment pipelines, ALM Toolkit, and source control integration .
  • Collaboration & Support : Partner with the Technical Lead and Canadian team during EST hours for requirement gathering, solution delivery, and client presentations.
  • Monitoring & Maintenance : Proactively monitor refreshes, scheduled reports, and system health.

Required Skills & Experience

Must-Have :

  • 4+ years of dedicated experience as a Power BI Developer .
  • Willingness and ability to work 5 : 30 PM – 1 : 30 AM IST.
  • Expert-level DAX knowledge with proven ability to handle advanced business logic.
  • High proficiency in SQL for querying, joins, stored procedures, and performance optimization.
  • Strong expertise in data modeling, RLS, and Power BI Embedded .
  • Experience with Power Query (M language) for complex data preparation.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric and its analytics components.
  • Solid understanding of data refresh strategies (incremental refresh, direct query, import, composite models).
  • Strong communication skills in English , both written and verbal.

    • Nice-to-Have :

  • Experience with Azure data services (Synapse, Data Factory, Databricks).
  • Knowledge of custom visuals development (using Power BI Developer tools).
  • Familiarity with performance benchmarking tools (DAX Studio, Tabular Editor).
  • Microsoft certifications such as PL-300 (Power BI Data Analyst Associate) or higher.
  • Experience working with international consulting clients .
