About the Role
As an Underwriter, you will be responsible for originating new business and driving high-quality revenue growth in line with Swiss Re's go-to-market strategies. Your performance will be directly linked to bottom-line profitability. The role reports to the Head, Casualty Facultative - India, Greater China and Southeast Asia .
Core Responsibilities
Serve as the first point of contact for Liability Facultative (FAC) business , ensuring timely, high-quality service to brokers and clients in line with underwriting authority and internal guidelines.Build and grow a profitable, balanced Facultative book aligned with portfolio targets and go-to-market strategy.Originate new business opportunities and improve renewal retention through strong broker and client relationships .Lead business development and pipeline generation to maintain a competitive commercial position.Exhibit strong risk assessment capabilities, manage volatility and line sizes, and explore alternative underwriting solutions.Utilize pricing and modelling tools diligently, ensuring pricing accuracy, exposure reflection, and data transparency .Collaborate with senior underwriters to develop and enhance technical underwriting skills.Monitor business plans, budgets, and risk trends, and ensure effective reporting mechanisms are followed.Support cross-sell initiatives across Property and other lines of business.Provide underwriting support to Swiss Re offices across regions as needed.Collaborate with internal functional teams across India and Asia to ensure compliance with underwriting and regulatory frameworks.About You
University degree required; law or technical degree preferred .5–10+ years of experience in underwriting or reinsurance with a focus on the Indian market; experience across other Asian markets is a plus.In-depth knowledge of Casualty and Financial Lines (Motor and Personal Accident experience is a bonus).Proven expertise in single risk and FAC facility underwriting .Highly collaborative and culturally adaptable; self-driven and accountable.Demonstrated deal-making track record and a solution-oriented mindset.Strong ability to work independently, handle pressure, and embrace learning opportunities.Effective team player and communicator, both verbal and written.Committed to living Swiss Re's corporate principles.Willing to travel based on business requirements.Skills Required
