About the Role
We are seeking a highly organized and technically skilled Structural Design Coordinator to act as the primary communication link between our clients and our design team. This individual will be responsible for understanding client requirements, translating them into actionable inputs for designers, and ensuring smooth project delivery. The ideal candidate should have strong structural engineering knowledge along with excellent communication and coordination skills.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the main point of contact between clients and the structural design team.
Gather, understand, and document client requirements, project objectives, and technical expectations.
Translate client requirements into clear design briefs, sketches, notes, and project inputs.
Review preliminary designs and provide technically sound solutions aligned with project scope.
Coordinate with designers to ensure timely delivery of drawings, models, reports, and calculations.
Conduct regular meetings with clients to provide updates, clarify queries, and manage deliverables.
Identify design challenges early and propose efficient structural solutions.
Ensure all design outputs adhere to relevant codes, standards, and client specifications.
Prepare and maintain project documentation, correspondence, and minutes of meetings.
Support project management tasks such as scheduling, tracking progress, and quality control.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s preferred).
2–7 years of experience in structural design (buildings, industrial, or civil infrastructure).
Strong understanding of structural systems, materials, and design standards (e.g., ACI, AISC, CSA, Eurocodes).
Ability to read and interpret structural drawings, models, and technical documents.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
Experience coordinating with clients, consultants, contractors, and design teams.
Proficiency in structural engineering software (e.g., ETABS, SAFE, STAAD, SAP2000, Tekla Structural Designer) is an advantage.
Ability to prepare basic sketches, markups, and technical notes for the design team.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Attributes
Experience in Steel design of residential, commercial, industrial, or infrastructure projects.
Familiarity with BIM workflows and tools Tekla).
Ability to propose value-engineering and cost-effective structural solutions.
A proactive attitude with strong ownership and accountability.
