Job Title : Linux Kernel Developer

Role Overview :
We are looking for an experienced Linux Kernel Developer to join our semiconductor domain client in Bangalore. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Linux kernel configuration, debugging, and device driver development. You will be responsible for working on board bring-up, BSP porting, and optimizing kernel-level components for embedded and Android platforms.
Key Responsibilities :
- Configure, build, and debug the Linux kernel, including analyzing trace and crash logs.
- Develop and maintain Linux block device drivers and contribute to block layer enhancements.
- Work on BSP (Board Support Package) development and porting for ARM-based platforms.
- Perform board bring-up activities on Linux and Android environments.
- Integrate and optimize Linux file systems (EXT4, F2FS).
- Configure and debug bootloaders such as U-Boot and Fastboot.
- Write automation scripts using Python, Perl, or PowerShell to support build, test, and debug processes.
- Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and software teams to ensure smooth integration and platform stability.
- Work with Linux open-source communities for patch submission and driver enhancement.
Required Skills :
Strong experience in Linux kernel configuration, building, and debugging (trace and crash logs).Hands-on experience with Linux block device driver development.Expertise in BSP development and porting on ARM platforms.Knowledge of Linux file systems (EXT4, F2FS).Experience with Linux bootloaders (U-Boot, Fastboot).Strong understanding of Linux block layer architecture.Proficiency in C programming and low-level debugging.Hands-on experience with the GNU toolchain and make system.Scripting experience in Python, Perl, and PowerShell.Solid understanding of Linux kernel source code and OS concepts.Additional Skills (Good to Have) :
Knowledge of Flash Translation Layer (FTL) and its functionality.Experience with Linux NAND, MMC, SCSI, and UFS device drivers.Experience in NAND firmware development.Exposure to Android application development.Experience in testing and automation for Linux device drivers (test case creation, code coverage, unit test frameworks).Prior experience contributing to the Linux Open Source community (patch submission).Preferred Qualification :
B.E. / B.Tech / M.E. / M.Tech in Computer Science, Electronics, or a related discipline.
