IBM MQ Series FTE z / OS Admin System Programmer

Job descriptionPlan and execute upgrades of MQ Series and FTE components on z / OS. Conduct compatibility checks, regression testing, and rollback planning. Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to ensure minimal disruption during upgrades. Maintain detailed documentation and version control records for upgrades. Implement and manage MQ security protocols including TLS / SSH certificates, RACF integration, and security exits. Ensure compliance with organizational and industry standards for secure messaging environments. Support integration of MQ with z / OS subsystems including CICS, DB2, and IMS. Develop and maintain automation scripts using REXX, JCL, or Assembler for MQ operations. Design and implement MQ Queue Sharing Groups and RESLEVEL configurations for high availability. Contribute to disaster recovery planning, testing, and failover strategies for MQ environments. Partner with developers, infrastructure teams, and support staff to troubleshoot and resolve MQ-related issues. Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and knowledge-sharing within the team. Maintain comprehensive documentation of MQ configurations, procedures, and best practices. Identify, propose, and implement automation opportunities to improve operational efficiency. 8+ years of hands-on experience with IBM MQ on z / OS. Deep understanding of MQ Queue Sharing Groups, FTE configurations, and MQ monitoring tools. Proficiency in COBOL, REXX, JCL, and related language tools. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in hybrid team environments. IBM MQ Administrator Certification (or equivalent relevant certification).
