Job description

Position Title

Design Specifier

General Description (Summary description of the primary duties and objectives of the position.)

Supporting the provision of design, pricing and specification services to support both internal and external

customers from all regions, including sales offices, dealers, A&D and end customers.

Responsible for developing design solutions based on the global Organisation product portfolio, from typical

development, test fitting floor layouts through to the creation of post installation drawings.

Liaise with customers to understand the customer needs and to verify designs.

Task Profile (Individual duties, assignments and responsibilities required of the position.)

A Support response for request for services

Collaborate with other team members to complete requests as required ( From research

to response )

Collaborate with external teams to complete requests as required ( Monterrey, Grand

Rapids and other locations )

Communicate with customers to define request / project requirements

Develop solutions based on Organisation product offerings based on process for each

market (AP, NA, Europe)

Support the definition of special products

Create solution drawings

Read & interpret typical drawings

Floor plan take-offs based on typical drawings

Apply pricing based on process for each market (AP, NA, Europe)

Create complete project quotations

Compile RFP & RFI responses with supporting documentation

Calculate Freight, Delivery & Installation charges, together with SFT, Forwarder &

customers

Review own / peer quotes & drawings QAS

Submit and review solution drawings & quotation with customers

Create solution specification list

Provide technical drawings to the visualization team

Advise the visualization team on product solution and application

B Administrative Support

Update daily metrics and project management system ( AGIO / Daily Bucket / Google

Docs)

Maintain and update project folders

Develop technical standards ( templates, reference materials )

Collect and maintain RFP supporting documentation

Participate in monthly team meetings

C Customer Experience Support

1 Participate with customer visits as and when required

2 Engage customers to explain department processes and services

E Development / Network

1 Maintain and update on product knowledge ( participate with product training )

2 Follow the Learning and Development curriculum and update progress

3 Mentor new hires through the Buddy System

Requirements Profile (Competencies, skills, abilities, experience, education necessary.)

A Technical Skills

AutoCAD / draught work using specification tools including PCON, FSL & Sketch up

Understanding the technical capabilities of Organisation products including stability

guidelines, structural and material properties.

Understanding of power and data infrastructure and distribution

Understanding of BIFMA, IAQ, ISO, LEED standards related to Organisation products and

projects

Quotation tools; Hedberg, Excel

Additional quotation tools; Easy Coms, CAP Worksheet, Smart Tools

B Design Skills

Understanding of regional / global interior design & spatial planning rules and guidelines

Consider product & workspace ergonomics while creating solutions

Apply global Organisation product and application knowledge to develop design solutions

to meet or exceed customer expectation

Incorporating Organisation research and latest insights into proposal of solutions

Ability to interpret customer requirements and if needed influence the direction of the

solution

Propose value engineered solutions and options

Consider product, culture code & workscape ergonomics while creating solutions

Education / Experience

Minimum Degree / Diploma in Industrial / Product Design / Interior Design or equivalent

3 – 5 years working experience preferably in office furniture industry or interior design
