About the Role
We’re seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer – Defence Sector to join our R&D and Product Development Division in Hyderabad.
This role is ideal for a professional passionate about designing mechanical systems for high-performance military platforms, contributing to innovations that enhance national defence capabilities.
You’ll play a pivotal role in designing, analysing, and validating mechanical subsystems for Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGVs), remote weapon stations, and survivability systems, ensuring they perform flawlessly in mission-critical environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of mechanical components for defence platforms such as unmanned vehicles, weapon integration, and ballistic systems.
- Develop detailed 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and BOMs compliant with MIL-STD, DEF-STAN, and BIS standards.
- Perform FEA, CFD, thermal, modal, and tolerance analyses to validate performance under extreme conditions (shock, vibration, EMI, ingress).
- Collaborate with cross-functional R&D teams during integration, prototyping, and qualification of defence-grade systems.
- Drive Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) and continuous optimization for cost, performance, and reliability.
- Oversee testing, validation, and qualification of mechanical subsystems as per defence protocols.
- Maintain robust configuration management, documentation, and traceability across the development lifecycle.
Required Qualifications & Skills
B.E. / B.Tech or M.E. / M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.8+ years of experience in defence or high-reliability mechanical systems design.Proficiency in CAD tools (SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo) and CAE tools (ANSYS, Abaqus, MATLAB, Simulink).Strong understanding of military standards — MIL-STD, DEF-STAN, BIS, STANAG, ISO.Proven expertise in end-to-end product lifecycle — from requirements to design, simulation, testing, and deployment.Experience with armoured vehicles, UGVs, payloads, or weapon systems preferred.Familiarity with PLM tools and configuration management practices.What We Offer / Benefits
