Our teams work on mission-critical systems that combine cutting-edge technology, deep domain expertise, and a relentless pursuit of excellence.

About the Role

We’re seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer – Defence Sector to join our R&D and Product Development Division in Hyderabad.

This role is ideal for a professional passionate about designing mechanical systems for high-performance military platforms, contributing to innovations that enhance national defence capabilities.

You’ll play a pivotal role in designing, analysing, and validating mechanical subsystems for Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGVs), remote weapon stations, and survivability systems, ensuring they perform flawlessly in mission-critical environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of mechanical components for defence platforms such as unmanned vehicles, weapon integration, and ballistic systems.
  • Develop detailed 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and BOMs compliant with MIL-STD, DEF-STAN, and BIS standards.
  • Perform FEA, CFD, thermal, modal, and tolerance analyses to validate performance under extreme conditions (shock, vibration, EMI, ingress).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional R&D teams during integration, prototyping, and qualification of defence-grade systems.
  • Drive Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) and continuous optimization for cost, performance, and reliability.
  • Oversee testing, validation, and qualification of mechanical subsystems as per defence protocols.
  • Maintain robust configuration management, documentation, and traceability across the development lifecycle.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • B.E. / B.Tech or M.E. / M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • 8+ years of experience in defence or high-reliability mechanical systems design.
  • Proficiency in CAD tools (SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo) and CAE tools (ANSYS, Abaqus, MATLAB, Simulink).
  • Strong understanding of military standards — MIL-STD, DEF-STAN, BIS, STANAG, ISO.
  • Proven expertise in end-to-end product lifecycle — from requirements to design, simulation, testing, and deployment.
  • Experience with armoured vehicles, UGVs, payloads, or weapon systems preferred.
  • Familiarity with PLM tools and configuration management practices.
  • What We Offer / Benefits

We believe the best work emerges when people are supported, energized, and free to create. At People Tech, you’ll receive :

  • Health insurance (for you, your spouse / husband, and children)
  • Free meals, 3 times a day — breakfast, lunch, dinner on us
