Job description

The Demand Planner will play a pivotal role in managing and forecasting demand across IGP’s product categories and channels. This role is central to ensuring the right products are available at the right time and location, optimizing working capital, and supporting business growth during high-demand occasions such as festivals, Valentine’s, Rakhi, Diwali, and BAU.

The individual will work closely with cross-functional teams including Category Management, Procurement, Marketing, Operations, and Finance to drive accurate demand forecasting, improve forecast accuracy, and enhance overall supply chain efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Demand Forecasting & Planning

  • Develop and maintain accurate demand forecasts at SKU / category level using historical data, market intelligence, and statistical models.
  • Analyze sales trends, seasonality, and campaign performance to project future demand across online and offline channels .
  • Incorporate marketing inputs, new launches, promotions, and pricing impacts into forecast models.
  • Build scenario-based forecasts to support major events, seasonal peaks, and marketing activations.

Collaboration & Alignment

  • Partner with Category, Marketing, and Operations teams to ensure forecast alignment with business plans.
  • Collaborate with Procurement and Supply teams for timely replenishment, vendor alignment, and purchase planning.
  • Participate in monthly S&OP (Sales and Operations Planning) meetings, presenting insights and forecast updates.
  • Performance Tracking & Analytics

  • Monitor key demand planning KPIs such as forecast accuracy, bias, and service level.
  • Identify root causes of deviations and recommend corrective actions.
  • Create and present weekly / monthly dashboards and analytical reports for leadership review.
  • Leverage data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau) to drive business insights.
  • Inventory Optimization

  • Support inventory health by balancing product availability with optimal stock levels across warehouses and retail outlets.
  • Analyze slow-moving and fast-moving SKUs to drive liquidation or replenishment strategies.
  • Contribute to improving fill rates and reducing obsolescence.
  • Process Improvement

  • Continuously enhance demand planning tools, models, and processes to improve forecast reliability.
  • Drive adoption of automation, predictive analytics, and data-led decision-making within the planning function.
  • Requirements

    Education :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Statistics, or related field.
  • MBA or Postgraduate qualification in Supply Chain or Operations preferred.
  • Experience :

  • 6–10 years of experience in demand planning, forecasting, or supply chain analytics, preferably in e-commerce, FMCG, retail, or D2C sectors.
  • Proven experience in handling large SKU portfolios and complex supply networks.
  • Technical Skills :

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel (Pivot Tables, Macros, Statistical Models).
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite.
  • Exposure to demand forecasting tools and BI platforms (Power BI, Tableau, etc.).
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Soft Skills :

  • High attention to detail with an analytical and strategic mindset.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving business environment.
  • Collaborative team player with a proactive and ownership-driven approach.
