About Alt Carbon :

Alt Carbon is a deeptech science and data company, building agri-infrastructure for climate action. We aim to make South Asia a hub for Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) through technology pathways like Enhanced Rock Weathering and Biochar. We work with farmers and scientists across the Global South to turn underutilized land into carbon sinks.

Our flagship initiative, the Darjeeling Revival Project (DRP), is a first-of-its-kind effort to unite climate action with cultural and ecological restoration - by reviving degraded soils, restoring livelihoods, and rebuilding ecosystems. This year, we also launched the Bengal Renaissance Project (BRP), a large-scale biochar program that is building a network of biomass banks, pyrolysis, and gasification plants across Eastern India, with a mission to weave hope back into the lands of India.

Rooted in science, powered by community, and driven by the belief that revivals require ambition and audacious bets, our mission is to remove 5 million metric tons of CO₂ by 2030.

About the role

The Illustration Designer will report to the Head of Brand. This is a hands-on role, and will involve setting the design style and tempo for Alt Carbon across all external facing channels — from website, social media posts, pitch decks, posters, big ticket campaigns, and offline events.

The ideal candidate should have a distinct style and a portfolio of work to exhibit different style types. The person can build a team for all the work needed to create a strong visual identity for Alt Carbon. This is an extremely high impact role that defines the identity of the brand.

What you will do

• Ensuring consistency and quality of visual communication across all our external channels.
• Creating a design style - from logos, fonts, graphics / illustrations, typography, and choosing a design language. These guidelines form the bedrock of all marketing design
• Creating animations and illustrations that help us stand out - website, social media images, infographics
• Building a Design System that acts as a guideline for all marketing endeavors
• Use design to attract potential customers to our social channels, website.
• Own all website design, including animations, illustrations, graphic design and creatives on social media
• Form a charter for how design can enable high signaling in a fast-growing space.
