Role Overview
We are seeking a highly driven and commercially astute Head - Non-Ferrous (Sales, Procurement & Scrap) to lead the complete non-ferrous metals vertical. This includes Aluminium, Copper, Brass, Zinc, Lead, and other alloys across both prime and scrap categories.
The role involves end-to-end business ownership - driving sales growth, managing strategic procurement, and optimizing scrap sourcing and recovery operations. The ideal candidate must bring deep industry expertise, strong commercial acumen, and an entrepreneurial mindset to scale the non-ferrous business and maximize profitability.
Key Responsibilities
1. Business Strategy & Growth
- Develop and execute the business strategy for the non-ferrous and scrap division.
- Identify growth opportunities across domestic and international markets for prime and scrap materials.
- Set and achieve volume, margin, and profitability targets.
- Conduct market intelligence on price trends, competitor activities, and demand-supply dynamics.
2. Sales & Customer Management
Drive sales across manufacturers, recyclers, foundries, and large industrial buyers.Manage the full customer lifecycle - from lead generation and negotiation to contract closure and post-sales service.Maintain strong relationships with key accounts to ensure repeat business and long-term partnerships.Monitor receivables, ensure timely collections, and coordinate credit control with finance.Develop pricing models and sales forecasts based on market movements.3. Procurement & Vendor Management
Lead domestic and global procurement of non-ferrous metals and scrap from suppliers, traders, and recyclers.Build and manage a strong supplier base ensuring consistent quality, reliability, and competitiveness.Negotiate procurement contracts, credit terms, logistics arrangements, and service expectations.Optimize procurement cycles and material flow to support efficient working capital utilization.Coordinate with operations and logistics for timely inward movement of materials.4. Scrap Management
Oversee scrap sourcing, processing, and resale operations for non-ferrous materials.Build relationships with industrial units, recyclers, dismantlers, and dealers for consistent scrap supply.Ensure value maximization through effective sorting, grading, and resale strategies.Monitor metal recovery rates, conversion efficiency, and profitability.Implement compliant and environmentally responsible scrap-handling practices.5. Operational & Cross-Functional Coordination
Collaborate with finance, logistics, and operations for seamless execution of sales and procurement activities.Review pricing, inventory levels, and order execution on a daily basis.Ensure compliance with GST, documentation standards, and internal policies.Utilize digital tools and platforms to track pricing, inventory, and real-time order flow.6. Leadership & Team Management
Build and lead a high-performing team across sales, procurement, and scrap verticals.Set KPIs, evaluate performance, and drive accountability for business targets.Foster a culture of ownership, agility, discipline, and continuous improvement.Key Skills & Competencies :
Deep understanding of non-ferrous metals and scrap markets (Aluminium, Copper, Brass, Zinc, Lead, etc.).Strong experience in B2B metal trading, procurement, and scrap management.Excellent negotiation and commercial decision-making skills.Knowledge of pricing models, logistics operations, and import / export documentation.Relationship-building expertise with customers, traders, and suppliers.Data-driven, execution-focused approach with strong profitability orientation.Qualifications & Experience :
Graduate / Postgraduate in Engineering, Commerce, or Business Administration (MBA preferred).10-18 years of experience in non-ferrous metal trading, procurement, or recycling, including scrap operations.Proven success in managing large volumes and delivering P&L outcomes.Prior experience in metals, recycling, or manufacturing industries is strongly preferred.(ref : iimjobs.com)
