Key Responsibilities :
Credit Policy & Risk Framework
- Develop, review, and update credit policies for home loans in alignment with risk appetite and market trends.
- Define credit parameters, scorecard logic, documentation standards, and exception handling processes.
- Ensure credit risk policies are compliant with RBI / HFC / NBFC guidelines and internal audit requirements.
Credit Appraisal & Underwriting
Approve high-ticket home loan proposals (within delegated authority limits).Oversee underwriting quality across branches, regions, and central credit hubs.Analyze financials, property-related risks, customer profiles, and repayment capacities.Monitor portfolio segmentation based on risk tiers and modify approval norms accordingly.Portfolio Management & Risk Monitoring
Track portfolio quality – delinquency trends, bounce rates, early warning signals (EWS), etc.Lead credit stress testing and exposure analysis for various segments (salaried, self-employed).Maintain a balance between portfolio growth and risk control.Team Leadership & Governance
Manage and mentor regional / cluster credit heads and central underwriting teams.Ensure TAT (turnaround time) SLAs are met without compromising credit quality.Conduct regular credit training sessions for teams and sales counterparts.Stakeholder Management
Collaborate with Product, Legal, Technical, Risk, Collections, and Sales teams to ensure seamless credit operations.Represent credit function in internal audits, compliance reviews, and management meetings.Escalate credit risks to senior leadership with actionable insights.Qualifications :
CA / MBA (Finance) / CFA preferred12–20 years of experience in credit underwriting – preferably in Home Loans / Mortgage LendingStrong understanding of credit policies, income assessment models, property and legal due diligenceKey Skills :
Deep knowledge of housing finance industry, real estate markets, and property lawsAnalytical mindset with strong financial acumenLeadership and team managementDecision-making under pressureExcellent communication and stakeholder coordinationFamiliarity with credit bureau reports, scoring models, and digital underwriting toolsSkills Required
