Job Summary

We are looking to hire a motivated and skilled Associate Full-Stack Developer to join our core engineering team. You will report directly to the CTO , making this role perfect for someone who is excited to make a real impact in a small, fast-paced startup. This is a role focused on hands-on coding , where you'll be responsible for everything related to our backend services—from writing clean, efficient server-side logic and managing databases to building APIs. While deployment experience is a plus, your main focus will be on building a solid and scalable application.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, test, and maintain high-quality, reusable PHP code and contribute to our modular, scalable backend architecture.
  • Design and manage well-structured and efficient MySQL databases, including schema design, indexing, and query optimisation.
  • Build and maintain RESTful APIs for our mobile application.
  • Collaborate with the founding team and, when needed, build basic front-end interfaces for internal tools and admin panels.
  • Integrate third-party services and APIs as required.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing software.
  • Establish and participate in code reviews to set a high standard for code quality.
  • Write and maintain technical documentation.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience : 2-3 years of professional experience in web development.
  • Framework : Strong proficiency in PHP and the Laravel framework (or a similar modern framework).
  • Database : Solid experience with MySQL, including database design, normalisation, and writing efficient SQL queries.
  • API Development : Proven experience in building and consuming RESTful APIs.
  • Version Control : Proficient with Git and version control workflows.
  • Problem-Solving : Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive attitude.
  • Work Ethic : Ability to work autonomously and efficiently.
  • Communication : Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a small team.

    • Nice-to-Haves

  • DevOps / Infrastructure : Hands-on experience with managing and deploying applications on Linux servers within an AWS environment (EC2, S3, RDS, etc.) .
  • Frontend Experience : Experience with front-end technologies like HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Bootstrap for building basic admin panels.
  • Database Systems : Experience with other database systems (e.g., PostgreSQL, Redis).
  • CI / CD : Experience with CI / CD pipelines.
  • Containerisation : Familiarity with containerisation technologies like Docker.
  • Design Patterns : Understanding of software design patterns and principles (e.g., SOLID).

    In the First 3 Months :

    Get comfortable with our codebase, contribute to a major release, and understand our server environment.

    In the First 6 Months :

    Independently ship medium-sized features, build new API endpoints, and optimise database performance.

    In the First Year :

    Take ownership of key features, improve system architecture, and help define our technical standards.
