About the Role :
As Principal Engineer – Platform Automation, you will be a key member of the CFL Platform Engineering and Operations team ,you will lead architecture and development of automation frameworks, self-service tooling, and infrastructure-as-code systems that power scalable, resilient, and developer-friendly platforms. You will build automation-first solutions that drive velocity, observability, and operational excellence across CI / CD, provisioning, and cloud-native infrastructure.
What You’ll Do :
- Architect and build reusable automation services for provisioning, config, lifecycle, and compliance
- Develop internal developer tooling and APIs for self-service workflows
- Lead event-driven automation using GitLab CI / CD, Argo Workflows, or Spinnaker
- Drive adoption of Infrastructure-as-Code via Terraform, Helm, Pulumi, and GitOps pipelines
- Integrate automation with CI / CD, service catalogs, and platform orchestrators
- Embed observability, traceability, and telemetry into automation frameworks
- Build systems for automated failure detection, triage, and remediation
- Define platform-wide automation standards, architecture patterns, and best practices
- Collaborate across SRE, DevOps, cloud, and security teams to automate operations
- Mentor engineers and guide platform engineering strategy for automation at scale
What You’ll Bring :
Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field7-12 years in software / platform / automation engineering rolesExpertise in building large-scale automation systems and developer toolingStrong programming / scripting skills in Python, Go, Bash, or equivalentExperience with CI / CD platforms (GitLab, ArgoCD, Jenkins), job orchestrators, and workflow automationDeep knowledge of Kubernetes, containers, service orchestration, and IaC (Terraform, Helm, Pulumi)Familiarity with event-driven automation using AWS Lambda, Azure Functions, or EventBridgeExperience building self-service developer platforms or internal portalsUnderstanding of platform security, secrets management, and compliance automationHands-on experience integrating observability, alerting, and incident workflowsStrong leadership, communication, and technical decision-making across cross-functional teamsPassion for platform simplicity, operational excellence, and empowering engineering teamsMust Have Skills :
