MEP Engineer (Service Utilities Management & Supervision)

Mata Amritanandamayi Mandir Trust (MAMAT) is developing one of India’s largest Cultural & Heritage Theme Parks at Mahabalipuram, Tamil Nadu — a world-class destination blending ancient Indian architecture, spiritual heritage, and state-of-the-art immersive technologies.

Spread across 83 acres, the project integrates monumental stone architecture, multimedia theatres, rides, landscaped zones, and visitor facilities — all supported by a sophisticated utilities infrastructure designed for longevity, efficiency, and sustainability.

The park will operate as a smart, self-sustaining ecosystem — encompassing water treatment, energy management, HVAC systems, lighting, communication networks, and green energy solutions — aligned with international theme park standards.

Position Title : MEP Engineer – Service Utilities Management & Supervision

Location : Mahabalipuram, Tamil Nadu

Reports To : Director – Projects

Employment Type : Full-time, On-site

Role Objective

To plan, manage, and supervise all Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP) and Utility Services across the park’s built and open zones — ensuring design integrity, technical quality, energy efficiency, and operational reliability for a world-class visitor experience.

Key Responsibilities

1. Design Coordination & Technical Review

  • Review and validate MEP design drawings, load calculations, layouts, and schematics prepared by consultants for buildings, theatres, rides, and outdoor zones.
  • Verify adequacy of service capacities for HVAC, lighting, power, water supply, sewage, stormwater, fire safety, and communication systems.
  • Coordinate between architects, structural, landscape, and ride engineering teams to ensure design integration and space optimization.
  • Vet drawings for technical accuracy, maintainability, and compliance with relevant IS, NBC, IEC, and Green Building standards.

2. Service Utilities Management

  • Plan and oversee utility networks for the entire park including :
  • HT / LT electrical distribution, transformers, DG sets, solar and UPS systems
  • Central HVAC systems, VRF units, ventilation and exhaust systems
  • Potable water, STP / WTP plants, stormwater management, and irrigation systems
  • Firefighting and fire alarm systems
  • ICT, PA, surveillance, and communication systems
  • Monitor system interconnectivity between heritage zones, theatres, ride buildings, sanctum complex, and landscape zones.
  • Prepare and maintain utility network maps, single-line diagrams, and load charts for long-term asset management.
  • 3. Construction Supervision & Quality Control

  • Supervise installation, testing, and commissioning of all MEP systems as per approved drawings and standards.
  • Ensure correct material specifications, workmanship, and safety practices at site.
  • Review and approve shop drawings, method statements, and QA / QC reports.
  • Coordinate with contractors and vendors for progress, testing, and handover documentation.
  • Conduct routine inspections and snag-list verifications during installation and after commissioning.
  • 4. Energy Efficiency & Sustainability

  • Implement energy-saving strategies in lighting, HVAC, and water systems.
  • Coordinate the integration of solar power systems, energy monitoring, and automation controls.
  • Support compliance with IGBC / Green Destination certification requirements for sustainable utilities.
  • 5. Operation & Maintenance Support

  • Prepare preventive maintenance schedules, O&M manuals, and standard operating procedures.
  • Assist in setting up the park’s MEP command centre for real-time monitoring of utilities (SCADA / BMS).
  • Provide training and technical support to facility management teams.
  • 6. Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain MEP progress dashboards, issue logs, and commissioning checklists.
  • Submit weekly and monthly progress reports highlighting work status, challenges, and solutions.
  • Coordinate with project management and finance teams for billing verification and cost tracking of MEP works.
  • Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Civil Engineering from a recognized university.
  • 8–15 years of experience in MEP design coordination and execution for large-scale developments (theme parks, airports, campuses, or mixed-use projects).
  • Proven expertise in services integration, commissioning, and utility planning for multi-building projects.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit (MEP), MS Project, and energy simulation tools.
  • Familiar with BIS / NBC codes, IS 3043, IS 732, IS 655, ASHRAE, NFPA, and local statutory norms.
  • Excellent coordination, documentation, and site supervision skills.
  • Strong analytical, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Willingness to be stationed full-time at Mahabalipuram, coordinating real-time between design, execution, and operation teams.
  • Preferred Attributes

  • Experience in monumental, heritage, or large public infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of green energy systems, STP / WTP automation, and renewable integrations.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams, including cultural and heritage consultants.
