Job Title : Head of Backend Engineering (AAA Game Development)

Job Overview : We are looking for an experienced and visionary Head of Backend Engineering to lead our backend development team for AAA game projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in backend systems architecture and game server engineering, specifically within the AAA gaming domain. You will be responsible for designing and scaling systems to support millions of players, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Lead the backend engineering team to develop scalable and high-performance server architectures for

AAA games.

  • Collaborate closely with game designers, front-end developers, and other engineering teams to align backend systems with gameplay requirements.
  • Architect and maintain robust backend systems, including databases, APIs, matchmaking, and player data management.
  • Develop, deploy, and monitor real-time multiplayer server infrastructure.
  • Implement security protocols to ensure the protection of player data and prevent cheating or hacking.
  • Scale server infrastructure to support millions of players in live environments with high availability.
  • Drive continuous improvements in backend technologies, ensuring code quality and system reliability.
  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers, fostering growth and innovation within the team.

    • Required Qualifications :

    10+ years

    of backend engineering experience with at least 5 years in AAA game development.

  • Strong proficiency in programming languages such as C++, Java, or Python.
  • Deep understanding of server architecture, networking, cloud computing, and database systems.
  • Proven experience in designing and maintaining high-load, real-time multiplayer game servers.
  • Experience with cloud services like AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
  • Hands-on experience with backend frameworks, tools, and services commonly used in AAA games.
  • Excellent understanding of security protocols, encryption techniques, and anticheating mechanisms.
  • Leadership experience in managing cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Familiarity with game engines such as Unreal Engine or Unity. Preferred Qualifications :
  • Experience with live game operations and backend scaling for global player bases.
  • Strong knowledge of microservices architecture, containerization (e.g., Docker), and Kubernetes.
  • Proven track record of successfully shipping AAA titles.
