Component Development Engineer

Reporting

Functional reporting to : Divisional Head (CD F&M)

Background

i) Educational Qualification

Desirable :   B.E. (Mechanical); IIT / NIT

  • Conversant with Hot forging & cold forging and
  • Gear machining - CNC / VMC / Broaching / Hobbing, Shaping
  • Gear Shaving, Teeth grinding & teeth honing and bore honing.
  • Basic knowledge of Heat Treatment for Gears & shafts.

ii) Experience

Minimum : 7 years

Maximum : 12 years

iii) Age Limit

Minimum : 27 years

Maximum : 34 years

Job Role & Responsibilities

Role :   Component Development of Transmission Gears & shafts.

Responsibilities :

Development of Gears, Shafts, and transmission assemblies with Vendors.

  • Drawing study & Manufacturability points closure with R&D
  • Process planning
  • Fixture, Tools, gauges selection & planning
  • Prepare process sheets, conduct trials and development of samples including troubleshooting
  • Cycle time estimations & Capacity readiness as per Business plan
  • Quality problem solving & process improvement
  • Monitoring for first 3 months

    • Competency Requirements

    Technical / Functional :

  • Hands on experience with processes –

    • Hot forging, Cold forging, Gear machining – CNC, VMC, Broaching, Hobbing, Shaping, Gear Shaving, Teeth grinding, teeth honing, bore honing and Basic knowledge of Heat Treatment for Gears & shafts

  • Gear microgeometry interpretation & problem solving
  • AutoCad, Uni graphics, Forging simulation (ForgeNXT), KISSsoft for gear evaluation
  • Selection and approval of fixture, gauges and tools
  • CNC programming, Cycle time estimation & cost sheet preparation
  • Conversant with latest trends in Gear manufacturing

    • Behavioral

    Good communication and presentation skills and proven ability to interact with cross functional teams.
